Chapter 12 - hiraeth

Start from the beginning

It's a little game that goes a long way down to hell.

A game fuelled by dignity? faith? pride?

Ego is a hell of a drug.

"...and baby, it's amazing I'm in this maze with you, I just can't crack your code..."

"....one day saying you love me loud, the next day you're so cold...."

Skipping class as usual, who the fuck likes algebra?

Okay me, but hey, bad boy am I right?

Who was I kidding.

Blake Symons little brother.

The gang leader's little brother. Just a fuck up trying to fit in.

Her small footsteps rang through the hall.

I could hear her from a mile away.

I froze on the spot to hear her walk a little more.

Crazy right?

I'll just run away before she turns the corner.

"Hey guys look, it's one of them nerds."

No. Fuck no. Over my dead fucking body.

My feet ran to her before I even decided to.

"What the fuck are you wearing?"

"Is that a panda?"

"FUCK OFF!" I found myself yell.

The adrenaline pumped through me. It flowed through my blood throwing a punch at the asshole's smug face.

The jerk stumbled back. Figures.

Blood slowly seeped through his fingers. He deserved that.

My eyes found Tay-be-, Taylor's.

Did I even have the liberty to call her that anymore? Whatever the fuck, in my mind, she will always be my Tay-belle.

"My" . Here we go again. Fuck this.

Was she crying? Her eyes were rimmed with redness. It dawned on me that it was my fault. Jake's last comment.  It's my fault. All my fault.

Run away. Run away Brad. You're going to hurt her even more. You're going to hurt yourself in the process.

I ran away.

With her hand in mine.

Is it normal to have a feeling of homesickness for someone.

Tay-belle was my home. Always was, always will be. You don't let go of your home that easily.

I looked down at my red cup filled with water.

Nope, no booze.

To this day, these idiots still believe me when I said it was clear looking beer.

Should've just said vodka but oh well.
