Chapter Nineteen

Gray's POV:

I pulled away from Natsu. My face was slightly warmer than usual, and my jaw was hurting from smiling involuntarily. "So?" I asked, "Love me yet?"

"I, uh..." Natsu nervously looked to the side, "I don't think so... I mean, you're super nice and all, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I love you."

I felt my heart lurch at Natsu's words. I knew this meant I had to give up, but I didn't want to. I didn't want to have to give up on the first person I've ever loved. Even if he didn't love me back, I didn't want to not be in love with him anymore.

"Alright," I said, my voice cracking a bit as I spoke, "I'll uh, leave now then. I'm sorry for wasting your time." I bowed down lowly before turning and beginning to walk away. As I did, I felt my eyes sting a bit, and soon after tears were dripping down my cheeks and falling to the ground. I tried to wipe away at them, but they wouldn't stop.

Goddammit, I thought, Fuck my life. Fuck love. Fuck Natsu... No, it's not his fault I'm gay. It's not his fault he's not. I bit my lip hard, as I attempted to get Natsu out of my head.
