Chapter 26

No understanding I'm ignorant, you'd prolly say that I'm trippin...

Kevin Gates, "Posed To Be In Love

Meanwhile

Mama Jingles studied the highway as she drove home with Cavon in the backseat. Her mind was scattered with thoughts of Casey, Talisha, and her great-grandson. She quickly looked back at Cavon, once she arrived at a red light. Whatever he was thinking was showcased all over his face. He tried to fight his sleep by staring out of the window. His mother would be coming home the next day and he was truly excited, but was scared for her well-being. Mama Jingles broken the silence between them both and said,

"Seeing your mama in that hospital bed gives me chills every time I think about it. I know that you heard a lot of bad words about me and I said a whole lot of things myself these past few days. I just want you to know that I am not perfect. I sacrifice a whole lot. I gave the best advice to your mama and aunt even when they thought I was tearing them down. Cavon, I would never say nothing to hurt you intently. I love you and know you will be going back to school with a lot on your mind this week, but prayer does changes things."

She took a quick glance back at Cavon for a reply, but his eyes fell heavy as his sleep overtaken him to a far away escape. Her lips showcased a weak smile as she focused her eyes back on the highway ahead. The feeling of reassurance swept over her spirit as she drove to her home. Keeping Cavon safe and out of harm's way was her goal. To her Casey was unfit to raise Cavon after the hell and chaos she was placing him through. She knew her granddaughter was feisty and that Casey would have a fit while signing over the custody rights to her. Moving from the Westbank of New Orleans was coming to her mind too. Mama Jingles made a mental note to keep Cavon away from Casey until she was able to see and realize the woman that she had become.

Raymond made his way to the nearest elevator that was just a corner away from Talisha's room. His pride was in his pocket and his pain weighed down his every step back to his car. He felt defeated by Talisha's words and actions. There was no longer a want or a desire to prove the love that he had for her. Things that she was still justifying that were no longer going on between him and Salen's little sister were dead in his book. Talisha was always in defense when it came to loving Raymond. She had to throw mental stones at his glass house like he painted himself to be the perfect lover for her. Loving Malone is what took so much out of her to truly fall in love with Raymond. Talisha wanted to still be Malone's cheerleader no matter what was the cost. She stood by his side through more heart ache over the years than what Raymond brought within a few months. As he went down the elevator he deleted Talisha's number from his contact list. He was through with her and thought as he deleted her number,

"Out of sight out of mind, right?"

Salen's name and face popped up on his screen as he smiled at the guest service agent behind her desk and said goodnight. He wasn't sure what Salen could have possibly wanted, but he answered her call on the four ring.

"What's up, Salen?"

"I just wanted to know if you was on this side of the river. That's all?" She replied as she watched Honaray make her way back to their table.

Raymond paced to his car and opened the door and replied, "Yeah, I'm in Harvey. Why are you so curious?"

Honaray smiled and took a seat with a worried expression on her face as she stared at Salen. "I just wanted you to come over here to China Doll and see me and a friend. I think that my friend guest could answer some questions that you may have."
