Summary:
For years, the Japanese government has kept a secret: mythical creatures such as centaurs, harpies, and lamias are real. Three years before the start of the story, the government revealed the existence of these creatures and passed a legal bill, the "Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act". Since then, these creatures, known as "liminals," have become a part of human society, living with ordinary families like foreign exchange students and au-pair visitors, but with other duties and restrictions (the primary restriction being that liminals and humans are forbidden from harming each other).
Own opinion:
Darling~! XD First of all I'm not really a fan of Harem but Monster Musume is different. Yes, sometimes its cliché but the whole story and characters caught my attention. Specially Darling-kun XDD I really love it ever since I read the manga years ago so when I heard it will have an anime adaptation I was really hyped and I'm happy that the adaptation was great. If you want to watch a harem anime but a little bit different then add this on your list!!

Okay, enough with the jokes, I love this anime! It's a lot different than most harems, and, where most animes fail terribly at making half and non humans romantically and sexually attractive, Monster Musume does it well! Instead of being grossed out about a guy being attracted to this cat girl with no explanation on how she is a cat girl, I'm finding myself attracted to a f*cking snake./*slow claps* Good job.
Anything else? Oh yeah, I like the atmosphere of it, and the whole world of monster musume! They're not completely putting out the outside world, in fact, it's included in a lot of the anime! In most harems, it all takes place at loser-kun's house or at a high school. Really, it's a very well designed anime! There are things they can improve on-- like, for example, give Darling some better qualities besides just being nice. I mean, if all it takes is to be nice and selfless and interested in monsters, then why can't I have a house filled with hot monster girls?!
