You walk into school with your usual cocky stride. All heads turn to you as you walk in, eyes on your unnaturally coloured hair. It was the first time you had been in school for a while as you had bunked off most of the time. Your best friend walks up to you, shaking her head.

"You're in deep now Y/N. Everyone has noticed your absence, especially the teachers." She looks concerned, but also impressed.

"Oh, I stopped caring a long time ago. I'm just here to have some fun." You laugh and wink at a nearby group of guys. They bite their lip and wink back, flirting blatantly.

"Then have fun. But next time, warn me so I can grab some popcorn." She says and you hug her, laughing.

The bell rings and you and your friend head for class. The students stare at you in the halls. They had all heard of you, the stereotypical 'bad girl' of the school. In truth, you just didn't care about school and its rules but you occasionally came back in, just to make it fun for the other students.

As you enter the classroom, the teachers eyes immediately fall on you.

"Ah, Y/N. You're back. Finally come to your senses have you?"

"Oh, yes sir. I'm just up and ready to learn." You reply, your voice dripping sarcasm. The class laughs and you smile innocently at the teacher.

"Just sit down and shut up Y/N." The teacher says harshly and you roll your eyes.

As you sit down you put your feet on the desk and lean back, popping some gum in your mouth. You kinda liked the idea of being a stereotype. So, when the teacher started to talk you made sure to chew loudly, to annoy him. He sighs and turns to you.

"Y/N, can you throw that gum away?"

"Nah, you're alright." You say and the class giggles behind you.

"Detention then. For directly disobeying a teacher." He says and you mimick him, mocking the way he speaks. You knew you weren't gonna turn up anyway.

He ignores you and you do nothing for the rest of the lesson. You continue to bother him, cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments out loud. He doesn't react the whole time and you start to get irritated by his lack of response.

Lunch time eventually comes around and as you stand to leave you hear the teacher call out behind you.

"Y/N? Will you come here please?"

You turn around to see the teacher looking at you, books in hand. You roll your eyes and walk over to him as slowly as possible.

"What?" You ask.

"I'm escorting you to your detention. It's in the library. Follow me, please."

You let out a sigh and make it obvious to him that you're annoyed. He walks past you and out the room. You follow him up to the library. As you walk you see the younger kids cringe out if your way, staring at your wild hair and dark makeup. You sneer at them and act like you expect it, but really, it bothered you that the kids were afraid of you. You really liked kids.

You had only been in there once since you came to this school and it was deathly quiet. The teacher points to a table where a geeky looking guy was sitting, reading a book.

"That's Mingyu. You're going to study with him in here. And catch up on all that you missed." He gave you the same smile you gave him earlier and leaves you.

You look back at Mingyu and were taken aback by his looks. I definitely should have noticed this guy sooner, you think to yourself.

You smile and check your hair in the window. You walk over to the table Mingyu is sitting and sit down next to him.

"Hey." You say and you flash him a smile.

He looks at you out of the corner of his eye and gives you a small nod.

"So, what're we doing together?" You ask, whispering. You bite your lip in a flirty way at him that usual gets all the guys but he just looks at you with a not-so-friendly expression.

"Why are you talking to me?" He says sharply but quietly.

"Uh, because we're supposed to be studying together?" Your flirty expression immediately diminishes when you see his lack of interest.

"Well, do it yourself. I know you're not as dumb as you look." He says and turns his head away, looking back at the book. You gape at the side of his head.

"Excuse me? That was a little harsh." You say. He ignores you and you start to get angry. "Hey! I'm talking to you!"

"It's your fault you didn't go to school. It's not my job to help you out." He mumbles.

"School's boring."

He turns his whole body to face you and you face him back.

"That's childish. And just plain stupid. How do you expect to get anywhere in life?" He asks.

You always avoided thinking about your future, knowing it won't end up well. You stare defiantly back at him, though inside you felt your confidence fading.

"I'll find another way." You say, your voice shaking a little.

"Yeah, sure." He says. He turns away from you again but you carry on looking at him.

You could practically hear his thoughts about you, and none of them good. You slowly turn away and get out your work from your bag. You lay it on the table and stare blankly at it. You have no idea how do to any of it.

Suddenly, Mingyu's face was very close to yours, looking at your work. You looked at his face, his closeness sending shivers through you. He looks at you, your faces inches away.

"Let me help you." He says quietly.

"Thank you." You whisper back, all cockiness gone.

You spend your lunch with him, as he quietly explains the work to you. As you do so, you both talk to each other and you're glad you got to know him a little. You notice that he's actually more shy then he let's on, blushing when you ask him about his life.

You barely take anything in though, as his face, mostly his lips, distracted you. No one had ever helped you with anything before.

A few minutes before lunch ends, he helps you back yout stuff away. You both reach for a book and his hand ends up on top of yours. You both look at each other and he actually smiles at you. He takes the book and wlaks around you, putting the book in your bag.

"You did well today, though you may have to keep coming back. You're not done yet." He says, sounding friendly. You turn around and face him, smiling.

"I will. I need all the help I can get." You say.

"Listen..." He steps and little closer to you. "I'm really sorry for judging you too harshly. You actually seemed eager to learn. I'm sorry." He says, in a rush.

"Actually... Most of the time I don't care about learning and if it was anyone else but you I would have walked off." You say. You bite your lip, realizing you may have said a little too much.

"Really? Why?" He tilts his head to the side, curious.

"Because you stood up to me. No one in school has ever done that before. It was nice, knowing someone didn't find me scary. Thank you." You say and you look down, cringing.

"Y/N, I know you're not scary. And I know you like to learn. How about... We have study sessions outside of school? It might be easier that way." He says. You nod and he smiles.

His gaze drifts to a piece of you hair which is wildly out of place. He reaches up and takes it, tucking it behind your ear. His soft fingers gently brush your skin and it sends shivers up your spine. His arm drops down awakrdly and he coughs.

"I don't know why I did that. Uh, I'll just see you this weekend Y/N. Wait, is this weekend good for you? Um, never mind we'll make plans later. I'll see you then. Er, bye." He says this all in a rush and he walks off, blushing.

You watch him go, smiling to yourself.

"I look forward to it."

He was so awkward. And you loved it.
