A/n This is the room that Skylar has, just pretend that there isn't anything in the room yet for now.

Skylar's POV

It's 5pm and I got home about an hour ago from shopping. I'm exhausted. Shopping has never been my forte. Picking out the decorations and furniture for me room wasn't that bad, but Clara insisted on getting me a whole new wardrobe once she found out how little clothes I packed from my old house. I loathe shopping for clothes. It's tolerable for the first 5 minutes but after that it's pure boredom.

About 10 minutes ago Maddie asked me to go outside with her to help her fight the evil king that kidnapped all the fairies and is holding them hostage in the treehouse. So of course I said yes. After we gathered a sufficient amount of weapons to use to defeat the evil king, we were ready. Which leads you to my current situation. Maddie and I standing on the porch, our capes blowing in the wind, checking to make sure the king hasn't sent any goblins to get us yet.

"I don't think he's seen us yet, follow me." She whispered, slinking towards the tree.

We crept up to the base of the tree, not having any troubles with the goblins so far. She took out her slinky, putting one end to her ear and the other on the tree "I can hear the fairies, they're asking us to help them."

"Okay, I have a plan. You climb the ladder to get to the king while I stay down here and keep the goblins from getting to you. When you're inside the treehouse yell our code word and I'll come up there and we'll fight the king together and save the fairies." I whispered in her ear, checking to make sure no one was coming for us.

"Okay," She whispered back, peeking around the tree to make sure the coast was clear. She was about 5 feet off the ground when she yelled to inform me that she could see goblins coming. I grabbed the paper towel roll that was strapped to my side, aka my sword, and started slashing at the imaginary goblins.

About 30 seconds later I heard Maddie yell our code word "PENGUIN". I started the ascend up the ladder, joining my little sister in the battle against the evil king.

"WE"VE ALMOST GOT HIM SKYLAR" She yelled after a few seconds of us attacking the spot that I assumed the king was. She raised her paper towel roll and made a big slicing motion in the area that we had been attacking for the past minute.

"WE DID IT WE DID IT!" She chanted, jumping up and down.

"Good job baby girl!" I picked her up and spun her around.

I sat on one of the chairs up here and put her on my lap. We sat in a comfortable silence for a few seconds until Maddie spoke up.

"Am I your sister?" She questioned, playing with my hand sitting on her lap.

"Of course you are, why do you think that you aren't?" I questioned, pulling her closer to me.

"We don't have the same mom and dad, I thought thats what makes people brothers and sisters. Having the same mom and dad."

How do I answer that? I don't know how to explain to her that she will always be my little sister no matter who our parents are. She's too young to understand that. I feel so bad for her, having to go through all this at such a young age. Someone her age should be worrying about having fun and being a kid, not her entire life being a lie and having to go live with a new family that she doesn't know thats actually her real family. If they can find them.

"Well even if we don't have the same mom and dad, you're still my little sister. Your family isn't always the people you're related to, your family is the people that you love more than anything else in the world. You'll always be my family." I said, turning her around on my lap so that she was facing me.
