- at the very start of the play, he's telling gerald that the port is the same his dad has as to impress him
- the line "a man has to look after his own business" is IMMEDIATELY followed by goole knocking on the door, almost like he summoned him to the scene
- he always makes a talk about business, even when it doesn't need to be
- he dismisses eric when he brings up the possibility of war coming up (and the play's in 1912, so...)
- he even tells goole that he'd pay thousands to keep this under wraps, showing he's more worried about a scandal (who would be the survivor- /href) than anything else
- the exact opposite of priestly's socialist views (old man), which explains how opposed he is to goole (toxic old men yaoi real /j)

- she refers to eva's suicide as her own fault, which is a classic case of victim blaming (since eva is a victim of sa too)
- she does say at one point that sheila will have to get used to gerald's (unknown at the time) affairs, which implies mr birling did stuff along those lines as well
- uses the word "impertinent" a lot, which means "not showing proper respect, rude", and it signals her upper classness
- seems more cocky that she was the only one who didn't confess to anything than anything else, which could imply she thinks she's untouchable with her social standing
