Part 16: Visitors

Start from the beginning

I decided to not over do it. She didn't like much contact to being with. Even if she wasn't awake I still wouldn't push her.

I could hear the sound of light foot steps as a nurse entered the room. She gave me a nod while she went to cupboards to grab some supplies.

She brought the supplies over and laid them on the opposite side of Scarlet's bed from where I was at. I stood to help her knowing the routine already.

I helped sit Scarlet up and held her in the sitting position while the nurse removed the bandage from around her head. She grabbed some damp wipes and dabbed at the spot lightly to clean it up before inspecting it quickly.

She gave a soft hum while looking at it which had me throwing a questioning gaze her way. She turned her attention to me for a brief second before grabbing fresh gauze that she started wrapping around Scarlet's head securely.

"Her wound looks to be almost healed, I give it three days at the most to be completely healed. That is judging from the rate at which she has been healing at." She explained to me while still wrapping the gauze.

I grew excited instantly a wide smile spreading across my face for the first time in the past few days. I held Scarlet a little closer to me excited to have her back.

The nurse glanced at me while she finished up with the bandage. She gave me a small sad smile, almost sympathetically for some reason with the good news.

"Although she will be healed by then there is no way of knowing if she will wake. With her wolf being disconnected from her like this it could take a few days after she is completely healed." She said everything so softly as she knew it would damper my mood.

My face instantly fell back to its glum state as I took in her words. Scarlet will still be out after she's healed, could be. I brightened up the slightest bit at that. She may stay asleep but she won't be asleep forever. She will come back to me.

And when she does I will treat her right. Because now I know how to. I held her body to me as I gently laid my cheek on top of her head getting a whiff of her scent.

The nurse quietly left the room probably understand I needed my time alone with my mate.

It was only when we changed her bandages that I could hold her like this. After about four minutes I released my breath sending some of her hair flying. I kissed the crown of her gently, as if I wasn't even there. But the numbing tingle of my lips told me I indeed was.

I slowly laid her back down making sure she was comfortable. At least I hope. After I was somewhat sure she was good I sat back in my chair for a while.

I held her hand just observing it for the longest time. She had a small freckle on the joint bone on the inside of her wrist. If you looked close enough and had the right light you could see the faintest of a scar on her palm. And on the back of her thumb directly in the middle there was a small white dot, as if it was a scar but it was the size of a pencil tip. If it was a scar I have no idea what could of caused it.

I was brought out of my quiet inspection of her delicately perfect hand when there was a soft knock at the door. No one has ever knocked on the door so it made me slightly jump at the foreign sound in the quiet room I was so used to.

I turned around putting my attention at the people at the door. I stood from my chair quickly at attention. I couldn't believe it.

"Dad...Mom...What are you doing here?" I asked as I haven't seen them for the past two years.
