Jared's POV
I got awoken sometime later to a light shaking of my shoulder before it stopped when I started to stir. I sat up from where my head was rested next to Scarlet's arm.
Remembering the events of what happened I woke up quickly turning my attention to Scarlet in seconds. My face fell when I realized she was still asleep. I had hoped for some miracle that she had been the one to wake me.
I turned my head slightly to be met with Ben's gaze as he stood behind me at attention.
I looked out of the window that was in the room. The shades being drawn but there was enough of an opening to see the outside world. The sky was black, darkening the forest.
I must have been asleep for a few hours for the sun to set. I turned my attention back to Ben while I rubbed my back. I shouldn't of fallen asleep in this blasted chair. I was completely stiff now.
"What is it?" I asked Ben my voice slightly strained as I tried to get the knot out.
"I called everyone that had survived." He informed me keeping his straight posture as this was serious business.
At his explanation of waking me in the middle of the night I decided to leave my back for later matters, this was more important. I stood and looked back to Scarlet.
She still looked so peaceful but I needed her back. Even though she never really did much I did miss her. The way she would bite her lip sometimes when she was nervous. How she would blush that light pink when she was embarrassed. When she would stare at me all the time when she thought I never noticed.
I looked back to Ben and motioned for him to step in to the hallway so we could speak. She may be asleep but I have heard that people were able to hear things while in a coma. I didn't want to traumatize her anymore then already done.
We stood in front of her door so I could still keep an eye on her during our conversation. "What did you find out?" I asked with a slightly wavering voice. I wished to know what happened so I could help her, know more about her. But I was also afraid of what I would hear.
"There are a few who...well they didn't survive when we rescued them. Most didn't wish to talk about what happened, they've repressed it. But I was able to get three to speak." He told me his emotions jumping back and forth with each new information.
"So what did they say then?" I was pretty much on the edge of my seat here wanting to know, and not wanting to know.
