Samanan Anantrakul had fought tough opponents. She had stared down business rivals, walked into high-stakes negotiations, and even taken a few punches when she was younger.
But nothing—absolutely nothing—felt as terrifying as sitting in the middle of Mon's childhood home, preparing to announce to the entire family that she had just proposed.
Because even though Freen and Becky already knew and had given their blessing weeks ago—Pin didn't.
And while Pin was sweet and quiet, she was still Mon's baby sister.
Which meant that her reaction?
Was a complete wild card.
----------
Sam sat next to Mon on the couch, their fingers intertwined, but only one of them was actually relaxed.
Mon looked completely at ease, practically glowing with happiness.
Sam, on the other hand, was trying very hard not to sweat under Pin's sharp gaze.
Across from them, Becky and Freen were sitting comfortably, both hiding knowing smiles. They weren't going to step in.
This was all on Sam.
Pin, however, was oblivious. She was curled up in an armchair, a book resting in her lap, eyes flicking between Mon and Sam with growing curiosity.
"So," Pin said, closing her book. "Why do you guys look so serious?"
Mon, ever impatient, immediately blurted, "Sam proposed!"
Silence.
Pin blinked.
Then—
She gasped so loudly it echoed through the house.
"You—what?!"
Mon grinned. "She proposed!"
Pin's book fell to the floor.
"You mean like—actually? Officially? Not just in your heads?" Pin asked, scrambling forward.
Sam let out a breathless chuckle. "Yes. Actually and officially."
Pin's hands flew to her face.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god—"
Mon laughed. "And, of course, I said yes."
Pin squealed.
"AHH! YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED?!"
Sam exhaled. "Uh, yeah?"
Pin launched herself at Mon first, wrapping her arms around her sister in the tightest hug she could manage. "Oh my god, Mon! I'm so happy for you!"
Mon giggled, squeezing her back. "Thank you, Pin."
Then—Pin turned.
And stared directly at Sam.
Sam stiffened.
Pin narrowed her eyes. "You. Stand up."
Sam gulped.
Mon chuckled, patting her thigh. "Babe, you should probably stand up."
So, like an obedient soldier, Sam stood.
Pin walked right up to her.
"You listen to me, Samanan Anantrakul," Pin said, voice serious. "I love my sister. More than anything. And if you ever make her sad, I will—"
"Pin," Becky cut in, amused. "She already knows I'll kill her first."
Pin nodded. "Okay, true. But still."
Sam grinned.
"I get it," she said sincerely. "And I promise you, Pin, I will do everything in my power to make Mon the happiest person in the world."
Pin studied her for a moment.
Then—
She smiled.
"Okay," she said. "I approve."
Sam laughed in relief. "Thank you, Your Majesty."
Pin giggled. "You're welcome."
Then she grabbed Sam's hand and Mon's hand and held them together.
"This is amazing," she whispered, her eyes soft. "You guys are my favorite love story ever, after my moms, of course."
Freen and Becky chuckled.
And Sam?
Sam felt something warm and indescribable fill her chest.
And in that moment—
She knew.
She was home.
