5:30 AM – A Mother's Worry

Freen woke up first.

Not because of an alarm. Not because of the dogs. And not because of Mon waking them up like she used to when she was a baby.

She woke up because today was different.

Today, Mon was starting school.

Today, their five year old daughter was officially beginning a new chapter of her life.

Freen stared at the ceiling for a moment, her heart already racing.

She was excited, of course. But she was also terrified.

Would Mon be okay?
Would she make friends?
What if she cried when they left?
What if she didn't cry but felt lonely?

Freen turned her head and glanced at Becky, who was still asleep, her hair slightly messy, her arm draped over Freen's waist.

For a second, she considered waking her up to talk about all the irrational worries running through her mind.

But before she could, she heard it—

Soft footsteps.

Tiny, hurried steps making their way down the hall.

Freen barely had time to sit up before the bedroom door burst open.

"Mom! Mama!"

A tiny whirlwind in pink pajamas came barreling toward the bed, her black curls bouncing with every step.

Mon climbed onto the bed with practiced ease, squeezing herself between Freen and Becky like she had done a million times before.

Freen laughed, her heart swelling as Mon threw her arms around her.

"Someone's excited," Freen murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of Mon's head.

Mon pulled back, her eyes bright.

"It's my first day, Mom!"

Becky let out a sleepy groan beside them. "Baby, the sun's not even up yet."

Mon turned to her, completely unbothered. "But I am!"

Freen chuckled. "You sure are."

Becky sighed, finally opening her eyes. The second she did, Mon grinned.

"Mama, are you excited?"

Becky stretched before pulling Mon onto her lap. "I'm excited for you, baby," she murmured, pressing a kiss to Mon's cheek. "Are you nervous?"

Mon shook her head immediately.

"Nope!"

Freen raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

Mon nodded. "I already decided—I'm gonna be the boss of my class."

Becky and Freen exchanged a look before bursting into laughter.

Of course.

Their daughter was definitely Freen's child.

6:45 AM – Getting Ready for the Big Day

The house was bustling with energy.

BonBon, Fluffy, and Boba were trotting behind Mon as she ran back and forth between the kitchen and the living room, waiting for breakfast.

Freen was making her usual heart-shaped pancakes while Becky packed Mon's tiny pink backpack.
