The day Mon was born had been the happiest day of Freen and Becky's lives.
Now, a whole year had passed.
And just like that, their tiny, delicate newborn had grown into a laughing, crawling, babbling bundle of sunshine.
Their daughter was turning one today.
And if Mon thought she had seen love before, today was going to prove her wrong.
Because her first birthday?
It wasn't just a celebration of her.
It was a celebration of family, of love, of a year filled with sleepless nights, first giggles, first words, and endless joy.
And Freen and Becky?
They were going to make sure it was a day their daughter would never forget.
------------
The day started early.
Mon, being the little ball of energy she was, had woken up at 6 AM, babbling to herself in her crib.
Freen groaned into her pillow. "It's too early for this..."
Becky chuckled, already sitting up. "Tell that to your daughter."
Their daughter, who was currently yelling happily to herself, tiny fists banging on the crib railing like she was leading a protest.
Freen sighed but smiled, pushing herself up and stumbling toward the crib.
"Good morning, birthday girl," she mumbled, voice still thick with sleep.
Mon giggled, reaching up for her mama with chubby little hands.
Freen melted.
She scooped Mon up, pressing loud, exaggerated kisses all over her face. "You're officially one! You did it!"
Mon squealed in delight, arms flailing as Becky joined in, kissing her tiny fingers.
"Happy birthday, my love," Becky whispered, her heart bursting.
And in that quiet moment, before the chaos of the party, before the guests and the gifts and the celebrations—
It was just them.
Just family.
Just love.

Now, when it came to Mon's birthday party, Becky had insisted that they keep it small and simple.
"She's one," Becky reasoned. "She's not gonna remember any of this!"
Freen, however, had different ideas.
"No, Becky," Freen said dramatically. "This is not just a birthday party. This is Mon's first birthday. The most important birthday of her life!"
Becky raised an eyebrow. "She literally doesn't know what a birthday is."
"That's not the point!" Freen exclaimed. "This is for us!"
Becky sighed. "Oh God. We're those parents now, aren't we?"
"Yes," Freen confirmed without shame.
