Time was slipping through their fingers like grains of sand.
It felt like just yesterday that Pin was born—small, fragile, barely able to open her eyes. And now?
She was one year old.
One year of midnight feedings and soft lullabies.
One year of tiny hands reaching for them, of giggles echoing through the house, of watching her grow day by day.
And tonight?
Tonight would be another milestone.
---------
They were all gathered in the living room, just like they had been the night Pin had said her first word.
Mon sat cross-legged on the floor, arms open wide, her eyes filled with encouragement.
Sam knelt beside her, watching closely, her lips curved into the softest smile.
Becky sat on the couch, hands clenched together like she was holding back a squeal.
And Freen?
Freen was right beside Pin, one steady hand hovering behind her, just in case she fell.
Pin stood in the middle of the room, tiny fingers clenching and unclenching, her little legs wobbling with uncertainty.
Mon leaned forward, her voice gentle but excited.
"You got this, baby girl. Come to me."
Pin blinked, looking between Mon and Freen, like she was debating if this was really a good idea.
Freen chuckled. "You're thinking too hard about it, love. Just do it."
Pin giggled, as if she understood, and then—
She took a step.
Becky gasped.
Sam's eyes widened.
Mon held her breath.
And then—
She took another.
And another.
And suddenly—
She was walking.
Wobbling, uncertain, but walking.
Mon's arms scooped her up the second she reached her.
"You did it!" she squealed, spinning her around. "Oh my god, you actually did it!"
Pin giggled wildly, clinging to Mon's shirt.
Becky sniffled. "Oh no. Here come the tears."
Freen exhaled slowly, looking stunned. "She actually—wow."
Sam, still kneeling beside Mon, reached out and smoothed a hand over Pin's soft hair. "You're amazing, little one."
Pin babbled something incoherent, clearly pleased with herself.
Becky suddenly nudged Freen's arm.
"This reminds me of something," she murmured, eyes still shining.
Freen's lips curved into a nostalgic smile.
"Yeah," she whispered back. "Me too."

Flashback
It had been another night just like this one.
The three of them had been in the living room, the furniture slightly different, but the love in the air exactly the same.
Mon had been standing, chubby legs wobbling, her eyes locked onto Becky.
Becky had been holding out her arms, voice overflowing with encouragement.
"Come on, baby, you can do it."
And Freen?
Freen had been right behind Mon, just like she had been with Pin, her hand hovering in case she fell.
Mon had laughed, full of joy and excitement, and then—
She had taken her first step.
And then another.
And suddenly—
She had been walking.
Straight into Becky's arms.
Freen had let out a breathless laugh, Becky had burst into happy tears, and Mon?
Mon had clapped her tiny hands, delighted by the fact that she had just done something amazing.
They had spent the rest of that night watching her walk back and forth, their hearts full, their souls glowing.
And now—
Now it was happening again.
----------
Back to the Present
Becky wiped at her eyes. "It never gets old."
Freen smirked, wrapping an arm around Becky's waist. "You cried just as much back then too."
Becky sniffled. "Of course I did. My babies keep growing up."
Mon, still holding Pin, smiled softly. "And now I get to watch her grow up too."
Sam, still close by, pressed a kiss to Mon's temple. "She's lucky to have you."
Mon turned her head, meeting Sam's gaze, something warm and endless passing between them.
"She's lucky to have all of us," she whispered.
Pin buried her face into Mon's neck, already starting to get sleepy.
And as they all sat there, surrounded by love and laughter, Freen and Becky couldn't help but think—
Life had truly come full circle.
And it was more beautiful than they ever imagined.
