Her jaw clenched.

Her fingers tightened around the phone.

"They bullied her?" Sam's voice was low. Dangerous.

Mon bit her lip. "She didn't tell us. Anil saw it happening."

Sam was already standing up.

Grabbing her jacket.

Mon's eyes widened. "Sam—where are you going?"

Sam's voice was flat.

"To have a conversation."

Mon jumped up.

"Oh no, you don't," she said, grabbing Sam's arm. "You are NOT about to go full gangster on a bunch of high schoolers—"

"They messed with my little sister."

Sam's tone was calm.

Too calm.

The kind of calm that meant someone was about to suffer.

Mon groaned. "Sam."

Sam sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"I won't actually do anything violent," she muttered. "I just want to have a...friendly conversation."

Mon squinted at her. "Your version of 'friendly' usually involves people crying."

Sam smirked. "Good. They should cry."

Mon groaned again, but—

She couldn't help it.

Her heart swelled.

Sam, tough, no-nonsense, always-cold-to-everyone-but-her Sam—

Was ready to go to war for Pin.

And that?

That made Mon fall in love with her even more.

----------

The Next Day at School, Sam didn't waste time.

She walked straight into the principal's office.

With Mon by her side.

They explained everything.

Every shove. Every insult. Every time Pin had been treated like she was less.

And the principal?

He looked nervous as hell.

"We take bullying very seriously—"

"I don't care how seriously you take it," Sam interrupted.

The principal gulped.

Mon had to hide her smile.

Sam leaned forward, resting her arms on the desk.

"Here's what's going to happen," she said smoothly. "You are going to find these kids and make sure they understand that if they so much as breathe near Pin the wrong way, there will be consequences."

The principal nodded frantically.

"Y-Yes, of course."

Mon squeezed Sam's hand under the table.

Sam didn't let go.

When they walked out of the office, Mon sighed.

"You are terrifying," she muttered.

Sam smirked. "I know."

Mon bit her lip, looking up at her.

And then, before she could stop herself—

She grabbed Sam's collar, pulled her down, and kissed her.

Sam's breath hitched—

Then she melted into it.

When they pulled apart, Sam was stunned.

"What was that for?" she asked.

Mon grinned.

"For being you."

Sam blinked.

Then she smiled.

A real, soft, rare Sam smile.

Mon sighed dreamily.

"God, I love you."

Sam chuckled. "I know."

Mon playfully shoved her.

But in her heart?

She knew one thing for sure.

Their future kids?

Would have the best mom ever.
