Twelve years ago, James Potter lost the love of his life, Lily—and the man he, Remus, and Sirius had all secretly loved.

On that fateful Halloween night, while James and Remus were away on an Order of the Phoenix mission, their closest friend and one of Harry's godfathers, Eric, stayed behind in Godric's Hollow with Lily and Harry. After losing his own family to Death Eaters, he refused to let the same fate befall the Potters.

Then Voldemort came.

Eric fought with everything he had, standing his ground to protect the people he loved. But in the end, he fell—his last act shielding Lily and Harry. Moments later, Lily made the ultimate sacrifice for her son. Voldemort vanished, and the legend of Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, was born.
