He didn't retreat from me this time but he stiffened for a moment before relaxing again. "No, there have been records in the past of wolves closing of from their other half. But only after a very traumatic event to which the wolf could not endure. Usually because of watching their mate be killed in front of them, or even being rejected to some degree. But as she has just met you then whatever has caused this traumatic event was before you." He told me everything clearly which just had me wondering more.
Losing your mate in any way can cause you to go insane, some say its worse then death. So what could have caused her that much trauma to feel like that.
I creased my brows while I looked through the door to where she lay in her bed. Machines were hooked up to her as she slept. But she wasn't really sleeping, she was in a coma. And while the doctor said she would be fine once her body completely healed I couldn't help but wonder.
How long will it take for her to heal without her wolf? And once she is healed...Will she truly wake up?
I turned back my head to my men who still stood there ready to jump me if I became enraged yet again and tried to attack someone. I focused my gaze on Ben as he stood at attention.
"I told you to call the other packs to see if they were missing a girl named Scarlet. Have you found anything?" I asked not wanting to wait any longer for any information. I wanted to know everything about her I could now.
"No Alpha, I called all the packs she belonged no where." Ben stated while shaking his head sadly.
That meant one of two things that I could think of at the moment. She was either rouge, or she came from Kane's pack to being with. I shook that thought from my head, there was no way. I focused my attention back on to Ben as I got serious.
"You found her in that cell, I want you to find some of the other people we rescued from there. Find out what happened to them down there. And do it now!" I let my Alpha tone leak into my voice at the last few words as I ordered him.
I need to know what happened to her, and while I'd like for her to open up and tell me herself I couldn't wait that long. Who knows when she would wake up. I need to know what traumatized her so much so I can help her. And I need to know it now.
I softened my expression after Ben fled from the room quickly to go find out anything he can for me.
I turned to the room Scarlet was in and made my way in there. I pulled one of the red plastic chairs that was sat against the wall in the room up to her bed. It was a very un comfortable small chair but I would deal with it as long as I was by her side.
I would be here when she wakes up no matter when that was.
I looked upon my beautiful mate and couldn't help feel the sorrow as I saw all of the wires connected to her body. Liquids slowly entering her blood stream. Machines sat by her beeping every so often at different degrees. And then the bandage that was wrapped around her arm and injured head.
This was my fault. She got hurt like this because of me. She tried to save me when I should be the one saving her.
I laid my head down on her bed while I gently held her hand. I stared upon her face, so relaxed. She seemed at peace but I knew that wasn't true.
Her wolf had abandoned her in her time of need, and I wasn't there for her either.
I just wish she would wake up soon so I could see that beautiful breath taking smile again.
