"I don't know. Let's just see how it goes this morning. If it's still happening later then I'll call the midwife." She didn't want to admit that was exactly what she thought it was. She wasn't ready to scare him or herself just in case it really was just Braxton hicks.
"Okay, but I'm holding you to that. Home birth wasn't an option for you." He remembered their last appointment going through their birthing plan. Suki had only been given two options. Natural birth in a hospital or c-section in a hospital. They simply deemed her too much of a high risk to let her give birth naturally at home. She would have preferred that, to be at home. It would have made everything feel so special.
"I know, I know." She chuckled, turning around to face him as his hands fell to her face, stroking the skin below. He reached down, pressing a kiss to her forehead as her eyes fluttered closed, taking in the feeling.
"We're almost there now, my love. Not long." In-ho couldn't wait to become a father. He had dreamed of this day since he was a boy. And finally, that dream was coming true. He was going to be a father — and it made it more special that it was twins.
"After the babies are born I think we should finally plan our wedding." She suggested as he gave a firm nod. Yes, their wedding. That, too, needed to be perfect. Suki deserved perfect. If he had it his way, they would already be married. But the safe birth of their children was just as important at the moment.
"That certainly is the plan. It's about time you became Mrs Hwang." He chuckled softly, his thumb running across her bottom lip. He wanted to kiss her so badly.
"That has a good ring to it" her smile widened, the pain she was experiencing was forgotten. "I still think it's absolutely wild that this time last year we were just getting into a relationship after months of dating." She thought. It had been wild. Over a year since they had left the games and they had not stopped loving each other. In fact, she was sure she loved him even more now — if that was possible.
"Yeah, wild. But I did technically fall in love with you in just a few days so what did we expect." He laughed as she shuffled lower into the water, covering her shoulders.
"Crazy things happen when you're an inch away from death." She laughed. "Imagine if you had never joined the games as a player." She thought. She wondered if they would have met another way. The pseudo Young-il was the base for their relationship. If they hadn't met then, would she be in the same place as now? Maybe she would still have been with Daehyun. She shivered at that thought.
"Imagine if you had never called that silly number to become a player." He thought back. She still remembers sitting in the break room at her convenience store job, fumbling away to type the number during her break. It was almost a blessing in disguise.
"My mind made a good decision by calling. It's wild, my life has changed so much because of those games." She pondered. She didn't think she would ever celebrate those games but they did lead her to him, even if he was in charge the entire time.
"You deserved all this happiness all along. You should have never been put through what he did to you." He said truthfully as his workers lingered in the air. God, if she had just left him when she had the chance.
"I wish I had met you sooner." She closed her eyes, breathing in the steam of the bath, relaxing herself. He wished she had never put herself through Daehyun. If only she had realised sooner she deserved better, she could have been free. To be loved exactly the way In-ho loved her.
