THE PAIR OF them had been crossing off each day on their calendar. One step closer to her due date. In-ho had really stepped up to it now as they had finally moved into their new home together after a long process of paperwork and exchanging money and keys. It felt strange being in such a big house with just the two of them, but that had changed the moment they started decorating the nursery. They had the perfect design — one they were both very proud of.
It had not come without many tears for Suki as she completed several loads of washing of pink, blues, whites and beiges. Each item of clothing washed and placed on their respective hangers. They hadn't stopped buying clothing. They had been told to prepare for small babies and premature births and they just didn't want to be caught short. She tried her best around orders of bed rest and to take it easy.
In-ho had enjoyed the hours of building flat pack furniture, making sure everything had been baby-proofed, painting and drilling countless screws into the walls for picture frames and decorations. It made everything real for him. He helped Suki when he could, around moving in their own belongings and making sure this was the perfect family home.
He enjoyed the handy work. He enjoyed doing things that made Suki happy. She was happy and that was all that mattered to him.
But in the end everything was perfect. The last thing to do was to pack the hospital bag.
They were still yet to tell their family the genders of the babies, opting for a surprise. They had managed to keep it well hidden from all of them, including their friends. That was the most exciting part for them — everyone would be surprised at the same time.

"You know in Summer we can invite everyone around in the garden and have a picnic. Maybe even put up a pool." Suki was sat at the kitchen table, a book in hand as she looked into the garden. It was winter now, the harsh frost defrosting across the grass as the morning sun peaked through the thick clouds. The calendar on the wall showed the 1st February. One day before In-ho's birthday.
"Something to look forward to. I don't think it would be ideal right now." In-ho was making them both a cup of tea. They knew they wouldn't be having much of a celebration for his big day, just family and a night on the sofa. Everything was becoming hard for her now and he didn't like to push her.
