[C H A P T E R   T H I R T E E N - AS THE WORLD CAVES IN]
cw: death | blood | violence | weapons

THE FIGHT HAD begun. But Suki didn't charge for the O side, Young-il didn't, Gi-hun didn't, Jung-bae didn't, Dae-ho didn't. No. They slipped under the bottoms of the beds as quietly and as fast as possible as they lay hidden. It was enough to shield them from what was about to happen around them.

And then came the first scream. People charging, people screaming, glass smashing as people cried out in pain as a desperate plea to save themselves. Innocent people were dying. And Suki couldn't even help them.

Her eyes glanced to Young-il who had managed to squeeze under the bed next to her as her hands covered her ears, trying to block out the fight going on around her. People ran everywhere, her heart jumping to her throat as she was scared someone would find her at any given second. He nodded to her. A sign of comfort.

They just had to hold it out.

Blood splattered across the floor as people lay there dead. She felt helpless, watching those die. She had to be silent, she had to be still. She felt his hand reach for her back as she flinched slightly, but his slow rubs comforted and soothed her.

It wouldn't take long for this to be over. The guards didn't want everyone dead. They couldn't get caught up in the fight. It was getting violent. Too violent for her liking.

The buzz of the doors came and the bright lights turned back on, their plan just starting as they rolled out from under the beds. "One the lights come on, the soldiers will come to settle the situation." Gi-hun's voice echoed in her head. "They'll try to break up the fight first. They won't pay attention to the dead."

And that's what they did. They pretend to be one of the dead. As the guards fired gunshots in the air, stopping those from fighting, the hidden players joined the dead on the floor, not caring whether they were positioned in fresh blood or broken glass. They had to play along with the plan. They had to act dead. "When they scan our trackers, that's our window." Suki gulped as she lay on her front next to Young-il, her hair sprawled across her face as she leaned on a small chunk of glass. She could feel it digging in her skin, enough to cause a scratch as she winced. But she couldn't move. Not now. It would blow their entire plan. They were behind an overturned bed, the rest of their group spread across the room as the guards got closer to checking ID's.

And that's when she saw the guard hovering inches away from them as they reached into their pocket to grab something. The guards head lowered, the device held up to Suki's neck as Young-il tackled him into a headlock. Suki had reached over to the guard, taking the pistol from his hand as she aimed it at the guard, pulling the trigger with all her strength. The bullet ripping into the guards head as he fell on the floor in a slump. "That's my girl." Young-il whispered as he grabbed the second gun the guard had on around his body. Just then, Suki ducked as another guard began shooting at them. But Young-il had began firing, taking the guard out. "We'll have to grab another gun, that one won't hold many bullets." He pointed to the one Suki held as they ducked behind the mattress.
