cw: deaths | weapons | mention about miscarriages

AS THE DAY went on, Suki had kept to herself. Jun-hee had gone off to speak to another player that Suki was sure she must have known outside of the games. She wasn't mad about being alone. The silence was helping her unwind from the morning she had just had.

And that's what she did. Her mind replayed every second of the first game. The screams, the echos of gunshots, the deaths. All those bodies she had seen on the floor lifeless. It wasn't what she signed up for. She didn't realise it, but tears started to flow from her eyes as she shook herself from her thoughts.

"Are you okay?" Somebody asked her gently as she fully came round to reality. It was the player in the bed the other side of her. She looked at his number. Player 001.

"I'm fine, yeah. It's nothing." She wiped away her tears as she looked up at him. She recognised him from the vote. He was the reason they would be stuck in this place for another game. He didn't seem too convinced but shrugged it off.

"It doesn't look like nothing." He pointed to the tears that still flowed from her eyes. "Do you want to talk about it?" She shook her head.

"I'll be fine. Besides, who needs more negative right now?" She laughed softly. He thought deeply, trying to change the subject.

"I admire the way you stuck up for 456 back there." He shuffled to the side of his bed as Suki sat up, her legs crossed. "That's some true friendship."

"Well, I think we all need it in a place like this." She chuckled, looking around at her surroundings. Big groups of people had already made some friends, sticking together in groups. "What made you choose to stay?" His face crumbled for a second. "Sorry, that's probably personal. You don't have to explain."

"No it's fine. I need the money to pay off my wife's medical bills." He said it plainly, but she could hear the pain in his voice. "What about you, what's your story?"

"I need a new life away from my so called boyfriend." Suki admitted. "It's not about the money for me. I just need to get away from him." She wasn't prepared to tell her life story. To tell a complete stranger everything that had happened to her.

"I understand." Player 001 spoke. His tone was gentle, caring. Something Suki hadn't heard in a while. "The name's Young-il." He held out his hand.
