"Oh...surprise?" She chuckled. "I don't even know what to say to him. I feel like an idiot for not hearing him out." Suki frowned as she locked her phone. "I really miss him, Jun-hee. I've only been away from him for a few hours."
"That's because you love him, you silly girl. You and I both know for a fact he's still awake thinking about you. Give him a call, talk things through. I'm sure that's what you both need right now." Jun-hee suggested. It did sound like a plan. "I'm going to give Hana her bottle and then go back to bed but we'll catch up in the morning. And yes, I'll tell you about my date." She chuckled, reading her mind as she waved good night to her.
✉️ To In-ho:
are you awake?
His reply was almost instant, like he had their chat open, waiting for a sign she might be there.
✉️ From In-ho:
Suki, my love. I'm here.
✉️ To In-ho:
can we call? I need to hear your voice.
But he didn't call, instead he has video called her. His face popping up on the screen as she sat back down on the sofa, wrapping herself in the duvet Jun-hee had given her. "Suki, darling." His voice was quiet as she saw him sat in his bed, a blanket wrapped around him. Her blanket. "Why are you still awake?" He asked, rubbing his eyes. He looked fragile, his face blotchy, eyes bloodshot from tears.
"Our tiny human won't stop making me sick." She chuckled softly.
"Are you okay?" She nodded, not wanting to jinx it.
She hesitated, but now was her chance. "I saw your text." She watched as his face conveyed a series of emotions.
"Ah..." he hummed. "I left the job...for you and for the baby." He added. Suki saw him shuffle slightly as he seemed slightly uncomfortable.
"You're an asshole, did you know? But you're my asshole." She gave a soft chuckle as she rested her head against the pillow behind her.
"I'm sorry, Suki. It shouldn't have got this out of hand." He ran his fingers through his hair as she watched him lay down, propping the phone up against the pillow next to him.
"I should have listened to you instead of shouting at you. I should apologise too." She frowned, but he shook his head.
"No, you don't need to apologise. It really shouldn't have taken me this long to leave the role of frontman. It isn't fair on you or the baby." Suki noticed how different he looked right now. He had light in his eyes, his features soft. It was like leaving the job had lifted something from him.
"I'm proud of you for making the right decision." She smiled. He was looking at her, his attention only on her.
"I want to be honest with you about why I thought I couldn't leave. I'll tell you that in person." He said in a serious tone. "Right now, I just want to look at a beautiful woman and tell her I love her. Tell her that everything is going to be okay." Suki hid her face in her blanket as she chuckled.
"I love you. I don't think that will ever change." Suki shuffled on the sofa to lay down, her head hitting the pillow as she held her phone next to her. "Let's forget about what happened for now. I don't think we need any extra stress at the moment." He nodded, agreeing with her.
