Part 9: Inner battle

Start from the beginning

Jared walked over to the first pair standing before them, observing them in a way. "Begin." That one simple word uttered from his lips set the two men before him off.

They charged for each other. One took a high kick but missed when the other ducked quickly. When the first man had his foot back on the ground the other man ran at him. He rammed him should into his rib cage while wrapping both arms around the man's torso. He picked up his whole body weight before slamming him to the ground making the man lose his breath. He flipped him over quickly while he was out of breath and tried to regain it. He tried to push himself up but failed when his hands were grabbing out from under him. He fell to the mat effectively losing his breath yet again. The other man secured both hands behind his back in one tight grip while he used his other arm to press his elbow into the man's spinal cord right on his neck.

Jared called them off and gave praise to the one that won the match before moving to the next pair. It went on for a while, each one having a different tactic to take down their opponent. Some lasted longer than others.

At times Jared would step in giving one advice or showing them how to attack or block a move. He was very impressive with his extensive knowledge of the situations. After all the pairs were done and had a winner Jared paired them off again. He put the winners against each other and the loser against each other. He gave more advice to the losers while he simple just watched the winners go at each other.

When it was all over he had one top winner, and as bad as it sounds, a top loser. He dismissed all of the men except for the loser. He stood on the mat opposite of the man who was much smaller than him in stature.

He fought with the man but never actually strikes him to bad. Whenever he would get to a blow that would surely take the man out he would stop just before actually hitting him. Then he would show him how to prevent it, how to attack correctly. He would then tell the man to do it again till he got it right.

Or in some cases at least better. After what seemed to be an hour of personally training the man he was exceptional better. Jared clasped him on the shoulder and told him to be here for next week's class. The man left the room and Jared and I were alone.

He turned to me before approaching and kneeling in front of me. Something he seemed to do often that I was grateful for. It made me feel safer in a way. His sweater was soaked in sweat, his hair clung to his forehead. You would think it'd be off putting and smelly but for some reason it gave me a weird tingling sensation that went through out my body.

"Why don't we go get you some food and then I need a shower." He gave me a soft smile while he chuckled at the last part of his sentence. I nodded and he reached out for my hand a reassuring smile covering his face.

I stared at it for a few moments contemplating my choices. There was nothing wrong with just taking his hand was there? He saved me, and when I hugged him earlier all he did was hold me. Jared was not a dangerous man, he made me feel safe.

I reached out and took his hand. I loved the feeling of how rough it was. He stood and softly tugged my hand. I stood with him and we made our way up to the kitchen where he proceeded to make me some food yet again. Having that goofy smile on his face the entire time I ate. He seemed to be happy but I was caught up in my thoughts.

I need to break this hold that Alpha Kane still had over my mind.
