The room filled with a flood of noisy conversations before coming to a halt. "I guess there are no objections?" Kyoya asked to verify before making final arrangements for the trip. A range of no's poured from everyone's mouths, even the silent type Mori responded. Everyone seemed thrilled for this trip and wanted to treat it as a vacation except me. "Me, I don't want to go." I voiced as now all attention was on me. "Your objection doesn't count." Kyoya told me with a slight smirk and a small look. I didn't even need any context to understand that look is to patronize me. If I could slap that look on his face I would. But under the circumstances I couldn't even respond. I was too stunned to speak as my jaw dropped. Who would have thought Kyoya Ootori would do that to me. Rude.
Two days passed with no bubbling conversation of the trip which I specifically wanted to avoid, left me at ease. I was finally able to ground myself allowing full focus onto my schoolwork, or at least that is what I thought at the beginning of today. Hours passed and as much as I tried to convince myself that the boys might have forgotten about the beach, I realized I was completely fooling myself. So, what more could I do other than prepare myself for the moment my weekend would be taken away, cause we all know the boys do not give up once their minds are set on a plan no matter how ridiculous it might be. With that being said the doorbell rang.
"Lena, can you get the door?" My mother's voice rang in the air before I responded. "Yeah, I will get it." After my response a thank you was casted my way in appreciation. However, before I could reach the door, a small obstacle stood in my way. The obstacle was none other than who I like, to call Yuki or kiki. ""Kiki" I called out but received no response. "Yuki? What are you doing?" I called out to him. Silence was all I got in response. So, taking that as I sign, I walked up to the boy. "You okay Kiki?" I asked while tapping his shoulder to get his attention. The small boy turned giving a look of curiosity. I then realized and gave the boy a smaller much easier way to understand and respond, thumbs up or thumbs down. After receiving a thumbs up I gestured to gently picked him up as we made our way to our destination. The doorbell rang once more before I gently pulled open the door.
"What do you want, Kyoya?" I asked the boy; however, his attention wasn't on me but rather the small boy within my arms. His questioning gaze was all I needed to know I was about to be bombarded with questions. "Lena, who is that?" Kyoya asked suspiciously. I rolled my eyes before opening the door enough for the visitor, motioning for him to come in before responding. "For a boy who claims to know everything, you sure know nothing." I told him. I was a little annoyed at him for showing up unexpectedly and annoyed at myself for how messy my home is. "Is that your kid?" Kyoya asked, trying to clarify his mind raveling. "You're joking right!?" I asked the boy before seeing his face, he was in fact not joking. "No, that's my little brother!" I exclaimed before continuing. "What are you even here for?" I now was more annoyed than before. "Well, you see....." He started before being cut off. "No." I told the boy.
Being stuck in a car on a road trip can be both frustrating and memorable. As the car idles in traffic or on the side of the road, the initial excitement of the journey might give way to impatience. However, it also provides a unique opportunity to bond with your travel companions. Conversations flow more freely, games are invented to pass the time, and the shared experience of being stuck becomes a story to tell later. Outside the windows, the scenery may change slowly, offering glimpses of landscapes you might otherwise miss. Snacks are shared, playlists are played on repeat, and despite the inconvenience, there's a sense of camaraderie and adventure that makes the delay just another part of the journey. Or at least I believe that's how optimistic I would feel if I wasn't in a vehicle for four hours with two snoring twins and the worst part is having a carsick kyoya.
As the car wound its way through the twisting roads, a familiar queasiness in made itself know to Kyoya. She tried to focus on the horizon, but the constant motion made it difficult. Despite opening windows and the fresh air, the nausea persisted. Anyone who knew the boy could take one glance and know he was unwell. "Are you okay Kyo?" I asked the boy in response all I get is a simple head nod. A few moment go by before the boy finally spoke.
"Do me a favor." Kyoya stated before I voiced. "Of course, what do you need?" I asked the boy. His response was rather unexpected and more like a self reflection that I didn't want to acknowledge. "Try and enjoy yourself this weekend Lena, I know this wasn't what you were expecting but usually you are more optimistic. So do me that favor and don't be too shy to share your sunlight with us. Because I fear might need a little bit on this trip." What Kyoya said made complete sense all I could do now was nod in agreement and take in his weak smile while holding on to the comfort within our hands.
Finally, once our chauffeur pulled over a scenic overlook, allowing graced our presence. The cool breeze and the stunning view of the valley below slowly eased any discomfort, turning any miserable moments into a peaceful step in our awaiting journey. With our journey almost at starting reach, all that was left to do was unpack and take in the beauty of Okinawa. Okinawa surrounded by crystal-clear blue waters, and branched off into islands. Each and every island has an abundance of picture-perfect beaches to explore, perfect for marine activities or just relax with a sunset on a beautiful white sand beach. From secluded beaches to luxury beachside resorts with every amenity, there is said to be a beach in Okinawa to suit everyone. As our feet touch the ground to take in the beauty of the island, other hosts were more vocal. "What a beautiful place!" Honey complimented before Mori agreed.
Everyone seemed to be happy within our presence of the vacation home...well almost everyone. "And... why did we choose Okinawa?" The twins asked simultaneously, a little disappointed within still being in Japan.
"Kyoya's family has a private beach here." Tamaki stated proudly as if that was the answer they were looking for. Both twins looked at each other before speaking once more. "But we could've gone to..." they voiced simultaneously before splitting their responses. "the Caribbean..." Hikaru proposed wrapping a arm around his brother. "or Fiji..." Kaoru suggested before being turned down.
"Guys I think you are missing the main point." I told the twins before Kyoya jumped into the conversation. "Do you think Haruhi has a passport?" Kyoya asked before I responded. "Plus, we only have the weekend, it's not like we have all the time in the world for a silly little trip." I told the boys. "Why, thank you for being so considerate of me but I think it's best if we go ahead and unpack." Haruhi said.
With that being said our chauffeurs carefully carried our luggage in, allowing us to split up and find comfort within the many rooms of the vacation house. Unpacking and settling in, feels like a never ending ritual. As we unzip our suitcases, the scent of the beach awaits.
Each person filled with tangible memories of the many adventures waiting to be unleashed whether it be sand in someone's hair, exploring the mysterious caves, or taking a casual stroll along the seaside, each and every person was thriving for a thrill of just being able to experience. This was in no doubt the beginning of a great start to a journey and the getaway from our overbearing stress within our everyday lives.
