“Sion?”

Without realizing it, I felt my strength drain away, and the basket I was holding slipped from my hands.

Thud.

The sound that broke the silence seemed unusually loud. I felt anxious when I couldn’t see Sion in the living room.

‘Is he still asleep?’

I thought he might not be coming out because I had talked about leaving early this morning last night. He was always diligent, so it wouldn’t be a problem if he woke up late for a day.

‘He’s been through a lot lately.’

I pretended to be fine and climbed up the stairs to Sion’s room. But my pounding heart couldn’t calm down, no matter how hard I tried.

In an effort to forget about it, I called out Sion’s name in a trembling voice.

“Sion!”

At this point, he should have greeted me with a smile, but I didn’t sense any response.

I hurriedly went to Sion’s room.

Knock, knock.

“Sion, are you awake?”

No matter how many times I called, there was no answer.

Could something have happened? Or maybe he was in too much pain to speak.

In an instant, anxiety enveloped me, and I rushed into the room.

“….”

However, the room greeted me with no trace of warmth.

I couldn’t say anything with a disappointed heart. All I could do was stand there blankly.

Until yesterday, Sion had cooked delicious food as usual, and we had conversations. There was an unfortunate incident with Lionel coming in the afternoon, but we got through it fine.

‘But why?’

I looked around the room. The bed where Sion had been lying was neatly arranged, and all traces of him living there for months had completely disappeared.

It was as if my encounters with Sion were just a dream.

“Sion…”

I had already suspected that someday Sion would leave me. I had been preparing myself for it, but a sense of sadness unexpectedly overwhelmed me.

“He could have at least left a note…”

I searched through the drawer, hoping to find a note or something left behind, but I couldn’t find anything.
