From one night to life

Chapter 93

Andy: We were so happy that day. I would never have imagined that our love would one day be shaken.

Robert pretended not to have heard what she said, but soon he decided to enter the room, as if he had arrived at that moment.

Robert: Can I come in?

Andy: Hi... I hadn't seen you.

Robert: I'm sorry I kept you waiting. I wasn't ready to come when you informed me that you had already arrived.

Andy: Well, actually, I figured you'd be here.

Robert: I'm sleeping in a hotel. I needed to get away from this house for a while to at least try to reduce my thoughts about everything that is happening between us.

Andy didn't respond, but she understood his feeling.

Trying to break the ice that had formed between them, Robert changed the subject.

Robert: And Jade? How did she spend the night? Has the fever returned?

Andy: Thank God she's much better. She no longer had a fever and slept well through the night. She stayed with my parents and if she gets a fever again, they will let me know.

Robert: It makes my heart calmer to know she's okay.

Robert sat on a bench in the bedroom, facing Andy. He knew that the conversation would be long and difficult and that's why he wanted to spend as much time looking into her eyes, reestablishing the trust that had been broken.

Robert: Andy, I know I hurt you and made you suffer. I never wanted that... on the contrary, I always wanted what's best for you. I'm grateful that you finally agreed to give me a chance to explain myself.

He then held her hand, trying to find some connection between them.

Robert: I don't know how you're going to deal with all of this, and maybe you really don't want to continue our marriage, but before I explain to you what's going on, I'd like to say that everything I did was trying to protect you.

Andy: Robert, I don't understand anything you're saying. Did you want to protect me by lying to me? So, explain to me what's going on. Who is this woman? Who is this child? Why didn't you ever tell me anything about your son? I have so many doubts.

Robert: I met Natasha while I was working as a Marine. At that time we were just co-workers on the same team. Years passed and we never saw or spoke to each other again. But about 8 years ago, she was transferred to Montana as a captain at a station near the station where I worked. We met on a call and started getting closer, since she and I didn't have any friends in the city. We were just friends and weren't interested in being anything more than that, but we had both been alone for a long time and we ended up becoming intimately involved. There was no love. There was no feeling. It was just one satisfying the other's desire. We stayed like that for about 4 months, but she was transferred again and I never had contact with her again.

Andy was trying to understand not only what had happened, but also if there was any reason for her to feel jealous of this woman returning to her husband's life.

Andy: Okay. But now she's not your past. She is back in your present.

Before Andy finished saying, Robert interrupted her.

Robert: I know where you're going with that line of yours. And, no, she doesn't mean anything in my life. You are and will always be the only woman I love, desire and want to share my life with.

Andy felt a little better about his statement, but Robert still continued.

Robert: You don't have to worry about her. Even if I weren't married to you, I would never go back to Natasha.
