sunday

"not right there sergio!" i exclaimed, walking over to where he was, hanging up the blue and pink balloons

i showed him the picture again. he squinted at it and tilted his head back. "i got it," he murmured, turning his back on me

we went to home depot earlier to get this wire archway. i'll blow up the balloons and sergio will arrange them on the archway but so far he was failing, bad.

i blew up another balloon with this helium machine we also got from home depot. i attached a piece of string to it and snipped it off, leaving about 4 inches of string to it

this was to help sergio to tie it onto the wire

we were arranging the necessities needed for jenny's baby shower, which she requested on monday. i started planning on monday, i sent the invitations out of wednesday, and now it was sunday, the day it was supposed to happen

i invited the list jenny gave me. i made the flyers in canva and printed it at school. hopefully, everybody would come because jenny didn't invite a lot of people

she doesn't fuck with half the people in our family, whether it was in dad's or mom's side. i didn't either, but honestly when they find out it's going to be an outrage

they'd been talking shit about her and her pregnancy, how she wasn't married yet. but when they find out she had a baby shower and they weren't invited, it's going to be so messy for so long

all them bitches know how to hold a grudge

i checked the time on my phone. "wait, im going to go check on how my mom is doing." i ran back into the house, where mom was standing over many pots

i bent down and peered at the oven as best i could through the door. the two different macaronis looked like they were baking evenly

"janae," my mom said. "what veggie and should i cook wings?"

"wait ill ask sergio."

i went back outside. the archway was coming along better than it had been before. "gio," i called out

he turned around. he wore a white, kinda tanish polo. he really loved his polos these days, everyday he wore a new one. baggy ariat jeans that had a sandy wash and his white threes

he said he wasn't going to change. i didn't think he had to anyways but i would. i'd either change to a dress or jeans, but i think a dress would be classier.

i was wearing lounging clothes. a pair of dark gray joggers, an oversized shirt and my crocs. best believe i would not be popping out with this outfit

"yeah?" he answered, blowing a balloon with the helium machine

i spoke over the noise. "what type of veggies and should my mom cook wings?"

"green beans and yes to wings," he shouted. the helium machine stopped and he tied the balloon like i did, cutting away the long piece of string

"aight." i jogged back to the kitchen. "he said green beans and yes to wings."

my mom nodded, going to the fridge and took out four bags of green beans. "do you need any help?" i asked

she looked pressured. it wasn't the first time hosting a party at out house and my mom coming a lot, but it's always polite to ask

"no it's okay. go help sergio." i ran back outside, getting an unopened back of blue balloons in one hand and a pink one in the other from the tables we put against the wall
