By Gone Lovers

I've been in love three times in my life maybe four,
The fourth didn't love me back, I don't know why I counted her for,
They all have kids now, one of them belongs to me,
One passed away, one is single, two are married happily,

It seems only fitting the one I loved most,
Is the one living alone and I live with her ghost,
I see her from time to time as together we share a child,
He's a grown man now, so visits have been infrequent for a while,

Although I've never came right out and said it to her face,
I'm sure she knows my feelings for her won't ever be erased,
The problem for me is I believe rejection would kill my spirit,
So I carry on with theory, don't say it aloud and I won't have to hear it,

I guess though, if she reads these cathartic thoughts I've posted,
She may have a response of some sort, I fear being roasted,
On the other hand if you don't speak desires to the universe,
Your bottled up emotions may metamorphose to a curse,

Either way it feels good to let this out from inside,
Maybe other brokenhearted souls can use this as a guide,
To navigate through tough times in their lonely lives,
Don't give up on true love for it grows as it strives.
