"y/n?" a familiar voice questioned, You only just scanned his face properly, it took you a few seconds but you eventually realized who this was.
"Kain?" Kain was your childhood friend, you both were very close and he stayed with you till like year 8, but then he had to move far away because his parents owned a huge business and moved to spread it further, now its one of the most successful companies in the world and globally recognised for producing revolutionary devices. You were surprised to see him working here considering his wealth, you never thought he'd ever even need to get a job.
"what are you doing here" you questioned calming yourself down from your previous outburst.
"Ah, well you see my parents still live in Toronto and I wanted to come back here but obviously I need to make an income from something, soo yeah." he replied nervously chuckling, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand, you just hummed in response.
"why didn't you just borrow money from your parents"
"they said I need to be financially responsible myself, I'll still get the company after they pass away but right now its me and myself" he said clenching his hand on his heart and looking down fake sniffing, you laughed at his dramatic-ness, he never failed to make you laugh. suddenly his expression changed and he looked serious, almost worried, furrowing his eyebrows he spoke.
"Whats wrong with you? and why do you want cigarettes?"
you sighed turning the other way "im sorry, your still the same from all those years ago but i- im just not in the best place right now, im sorry you had to see me like that"
"hey, hey its okay, what do you say we grab a drink and talk this over, my shifts about to end anyways"
you smiled contently before nodding in agreement, you waited on the side just scrolling through your phone till he told you he was done, you both walked out together keeping a comfortable distance. You both made small talk at first before going to the same café you were a second ago, you both sat at opposite ends and he ordered a caramel latte, you told him you already had a drink earlier today so he just nodded and hummed, telling you to speak.
"okay so..." you sighed deeply before getting it all out your chest " you remember Felix from the year above us right?" he nodded looking up at you taking small sips from his hot drink. "Well a year ago we started dating and-" he choked on his drink before speaking.
"WAIT SO YOU DID END UP DATING HIM AT THE END?!"
"HUH?"
"er nothinggggg" he smiled widely like he was a little kid who saw the two people he shipped in a show finally confessing, you chuckled at his childish behaviour and continued.
"well yeah we dated and it was amazing the first few months...but lately we've been really distant because of a few things hes been doing, he never told me till a few days ago and well it was pretty bad. i feel like hes still hiding something but..." you breathed in and out trying not to cry, Kain soothingly rubbed your knuckles in between his thumb and index finger urging you to continue.
"u-uhmm. and well i thought we could maybe try to make-up then considering he finally told the truth, but last night me and Lia went to a party a-and" you choked on your tears "i g-got sooo drunk and n-nearly cheated...im sure Felix is pissed and now- now theres no way for our relationship to get better..."
his eyes widened, he looked furious but also guilty? you didnt know what it was but you furrowed your eyebrows at his gesture. He looked away for a second before looking back at you, looking down he nervously smacked his lips together before looking back up at you, letting go of your hands.
"y/n, im really sorry you dont deserve that but theres- theres something i need to tell you"
"w-what" please let it not be about Felix, please please please...
He inhaled and exhaled before finally speaking
"Y/n...Im sorry i dont know if this is to do with your relation being so...distanced but uhm, the past few months ive been selling weed and shrooms...and a few other things..and although i never saw everyones face specifically who bought it i know Felix is one of them because he recognised me and we've been hanging out for the past couple of months. He never mentioned you so i was kind of surprised when you said you two were dating..."
you felt as if the whole worlds weight was on top of you, you couldn't breath, this had to be a joke, a silly joke right? Why do all the people you care about somehow betray you, tears threatened to fall out your eyes, you clenched your fists tightly before getting up. your mind was too hazy and your vision was blurry to see anything but you couldn't face Kain right now...no you were going to call Felix right now. This had to be settled. You stomped out earning many glances from those around you, you could distinctly hear Kain calling your name from a-far but you blocked it out and aggressively took your phone out scrolling through your contacts list before you ended up on Felix's number.
You rang it a few times, walking out to god knows where, not even walking you were speed walking and you could feel your breath getting heavier with your heartbeat increasing. He finally picked up.
"Y/N you know im at work right now i cant-"
"You fucking LIAR!"
The line was silent all you could hear was the faint buzzing noise of traffic around you.
"Y/n what do you mean...?"
"dont lie to me i know what you and Kain have been doing for the past what? couple of MONTHS"
"..."
"come home, say something urgent came up and you have to be home right now, were talking about this right now."
"Y/n im sorry."
"Ohhhhhoo, trust me Felix. You will be sorry, very sorry."
