Hailey's POV
Matt and I walk into the café, I squeeze his hand feeling very nervous inside of my heart. I see Carson and Anna in the distance, they hadn't seen us yet. The hostess greets us, Matt tells her who we were meeting, she escorts to Carson's table. Once we arrive to the table, they stood up to greet us. We were friendly until we have to stand our ground. After we greeted each other, we sit down and order our food. While we wait, Carson clears his throat.
“Thank you two for coming to meet us. I appreciate it.” I take a small drink, before I say anything.
“Farher, please I hope you can understand that I love Matt,” Before he can answer, the waitress brings us our food. Anna speaks up,
“Hailey, please understand we’re here because we're concern for you.” I wanted to laugh, but then I decided against it due to maybe I didn't desire to get hit again.
“Concern? i'm safe with Matt. I love him very much.” My father chuckles at my words, I look at him in confusion,
“Hailey, I realize that you might feeling like you love him now. But a year from now, you may have your eye on someone else.” I frown at his words, through gritted teeth I say.
“Father, we have been dating for over a year now. Matt is being transferred to their other office, I want to go with him. I graduated already. i'm ready to see the world.” Father stays quiet for a few minutes, Matt speaks up,
“Sir, when I came to you several months ago, I let you know what my intentions were. You told me to wait until Hailey graduated. She has, and I do love her very much.” Carson frowns at all of this,
“I understand that. But that she's just turned 17. I have no problem if you stay engaged until she's 18. She needs to stay at home until then.” I was feeling very irritated by what he was saying,
“Father, I can't believe what you're saying. I love Matt, and desire to spend my life with him. We're already married.” My father shakes his head with a chuckle,
“I filed a legal separation on your behalf this morning. You will be considered separated by pm today. The divorce will be filed by tomorrow based on not having parental consent to marry. As long as Matt cooperates, there will be no charges against him.” Both Matt and I were stunned ay hearing this, we look at each other.
“Why are you doing this, father?” I ask in concern,
“You got married behind my back. You’re not ready. You two can see each other if he’s visiting. Otherwise you need to work or go to school. We’ll revisit marriage after you’re 18. But you need to date other guys.” I frown at his words,I glance over to Matt.
“Sir, we want to stay engaged .” Father frowns at this,
“I would prefer you just date. I want her to play the field to really see if she’s really ready for marriage.” Father says harshly,
“Father, I don’t want to date around. I really want to go with Matt.” I say in defiance, father and Anna scowl at me.
“You will come home today. This marriage is over. You may stay engaged, though Matt you’ll have to understand if she goes out on dates we arrange for her . I would even encourage you to date as well “ I glance at Matt, he seems to be texting. He locks eyes with my father,
“I'm sorry sir, i'm deeply in love with Hailey. I desire her as my wife. I wouldn't of married her if I didn't. if I have to wait, I will.” ***
