Chance’s POV

“How do I divorce them to come home?” it was quiet on the line, then I hear Caleb sighs softly.

“I want you to go to Morgan, Thompson & Morris Law Firm. It’s my first firm, I’ll call ahead to let them know you’re coming. Go and ask for Grant Morris, he usually works here but we go to Dallas as needed.” I smile,

“What will they do to help?”  I ask very interested in what Caleb has to say,

“What we were are going to do is a change of guardianship, at your request. Worst comes to worst, I’ll have Grant ask for emancipation. That way you’ll be in charge of your decisions, Grant can fly you home. I’ll meet you when the jet lands.” Caleb tells me with tenderness in his voice, I exhaled a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I ask the next obvious question,

“How will I pay for the attorney fees?” I hear a soft sigh on the line,

“Don’t worry about it. We do pro bono work from time to time.” I let out a half heartily laugh,

“I don’t have a ton of money. I’ve been saving my allowance for a long time. So I have some.” Caleb softly chuckles,

“I’ve got you covered. When do you desire to get this done?” I shake my head at his question, even though I know he can’t see it.

“I would like to get this started before he gets back from his trip. I’m going to stay with my friend until it’s resolved. I’ll have Adam go with me to my house to pick more stuff up. I’ll keep it to the most needed items.” I notice that the line is quiet for a few moments, then Caleb coughs a couple of times before speaking.

“Chance, my next question is very serious. Is this your choice to walk away from Carson. How we feel isn’t the issue. We’re relieved you’re alive. But this whole thing needs to be fully your decision. I refuse to manipulate you in any way about this.” I sigh quietly,

“This is on me. Once you confirmed the DNA match, I decided at that point that I don’t want any part of Carson’s grudge. He used me as a pawn, that’s what pisses me off. But most of all, I want to get to know you and my siblings. I’ll keep in touch with Hailey and Charles. They’re innocent in all of this.” Caleb clears his throat,

“Chance, I’ll call Grant to let him know you’re coming in.” I smile, trying to show it in my voice.

“Thank you. I hope this will be quick. I’ll talk to you soon.” I tell Caleb cheerfully,

“You’re welcome, Chance. It’s mostly a quick file, you may have to talk to a judge. It won’t be a long conversation. We’ll talk soon.”

We hang up, I go down to watch Adam and his brother Greg playing a game. Adam was winning well, I waited until they were finish with the mission. I didn’t want to mess up Adam’s wins. After they finish, Greg goes to the bathroom. I turn to Adam,

“Do you have any plans tomorrow morning?” Adam shakes his head, as he sets up for the next mission. He looks at me with furrowed brow,

“No. What’s up?” Adam inquires with interest,

“I need to get some more stuff out of my room. Then I have appointment with an attorney.” This got Adam’s interest peaked,

“What in the world do you need to see an attorney for?” I had expected this question from him,

“I’m going to divorce Carson so to speak. Change guardianship you could say to Caleb and Dakota Morgan.” Adam’s eyes widen at my words. **
