Summary: This was a reader request and for the life of me, I can't find who it was from so apologies for that. There are 6 parts to it. Reader and Bucky are happily dating. They go out on a mission and not everyone returns. Bucky is sad. Relax, it's only part 1 and ALL stories have happy endings!

"I need you to be careful out there doll" 

Bucky winked at you, and you nodded while loading your weapons up. 

"Always" you saluted him while the jet landed at your upcoming mission location. 

"I'm serious Y/n, the intel we got says this is one of the last Hydra bases and that there are hostile agents here" Bucky urged while you walked up to him. 

"Bucky, I know the risks, I read the same reports as you. I always try to be careful, plus, you'll be with me the entire step. We'll watch out for each other like we always do" you patted his cheek. 

You leaned in and kissed him passionately. 

"Come on guys!" Sam yelled from behind you. 

"Get a damn room" he mumbled as you pulled away from Bucky. 

"We have one thanks!" you sassed. 

"We'll continue that later" Bucky whispered to you, and you winked at him as the door to the jet opened.

You and Bucky had been dating for two years and it was amazing. You met him when you were out on your first mission with the SHIELD Bravo team doing clean up and crowd control at a mission him and Steve had finished. You saw he had lightly injured himself and was waiting for a field medic to stop by and give him some supplies before leaving but you had a first aid kit on you, so you walked over to him and started helping him before the jet could take him back to the medical team at the compound. From that moment on, you two were inseparable. 

You lived together at the compound even though you weren't an "official Avenger", the team welcomed you into their circle and you were allowed to go anywhere in the compound thanks to the change Tony made to your security clearances. After putting yourself through the ringer with training and testing, you had become an assistant field agent to the Avengers which was the closest thing to becoming one, and you were happy you could join them on their selected missions.

Steve, Wanda, Clint, and Nat were in the other jet that landed in front of you while Tony flew to the location on his own. The team gathered and went over the plan, a plan you had practiced and trained for over the past month, so you were ready. Comms were distributed to everyone, and weapons were loaded and ready to fire.

"Ok, Sam, fly over with Tony and provide air support, Nat and Wanda will follow Clint and myself, followed by Y/n and Bucky." Called Steve as you all made your way to the base. 

If your intel was correct, the agents were hostile and armed. 

"How does Hydra always manage to know when we're arriving" you grumbled, and Bucky smirked. 

"We got this. I'll be right beside you. I love you" he said making you smile brightly at him. 

"Love you too!" you called as you both approached the main doors of the base and stormed your way in.

The fighting lasted for almost an hour. Lots of gunfire, grenades, and smoke littered the crumbling area. You and Bucky made your way around the base following Nat as Wanda was watching your backs. Nat's main job was to get as much intel as possible, so she had her flash drive ready as you all made your way deep into their main computer lab with Bucky and you guarding the entrance. You were busy fighting off agent after agent as they tried making their way to Nat, but you and Bucky held them off.
