"...we'll be here the same time tomorrow.
And remember: You are never fully dressed without a smile!"

And with a press of a button, it was over.

OH. MY. LORD.

It was only when I removed my headphones that I've noticed that my heart was beating like CRAZY.

"Well?"
Alastor leaned his elbow on the table, looking at me.

"Al, it was- it was AMAZING, um..."

"You've done an excellent job, dear.
Should I expect you to be a regular?"

"I hoped you'd say that,"
I laughed nervously as we stood up.

"Then I suppose we can discuss our contract more thoroughly."

"Let's do it over coffee."

"Sounds wonderful."
He smiled widely.

I felt flustered, but I brushed it off.
Our relationship is completely professional, and it should stay that way.

...

"There is one little thing, though..."
I brought up when we strolled around for a good cafe.

"Hmm?"

"Why didn't you let me report about the new batch of missing people?"

It was in the middle of the broadcast when he noticed the final bullet point in my notes. Silently, as to not interrupt my flow of words, he grabbed a nearby pen and marked it down.
I kept talking, but I looked at him with questioning eyes. He just nodded in denial, so I finished my reporting segment without even mentioning the case.

"The show is called 'Smile', my dear.
Therefore, we should refrain from talking about depressing subjects such as this."
Alastor reasoned.

"I guess that makes sense..."
I said, concerned about the fate of the people.

No one knows if it's a weird chain of accidents or someone's doing.
Though, if it's the latter- the kidnapper is still running loose.

...I wasn't aware of how close I was to finding him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was SO CLOSE to finishing my article, but a break was much needed.
I looked at the time, and it looks like I should be going now.
...well, Alastor and I didn't agree on a specific time, but I have a feeling it's in the afternoon, around the time our broadcasts used to end.
And there he was in the lobby.
"Ready to go, my dear?"
He asked cheerfully.
"It doesn't look like I have a choice, if I ever want to get any answers."
I tried not to sound to excited for that.
Though, honestly?
I've missed our little tradition...
...Not HIM, of course.
Just the general feeling.
"That's true!"
Alastor remarked with no shame.
He extended his elbow for me, and it didn't look like we'd go anywhere if I didn't comply.
So I linked my arm in his, as much as I despised it.
I happened to look at Husk as we exited.
