Chapter 7

The meeting was being held in a small coffee shop in town.

I walked in to see Olive , alone in the back slowly sipping a latte.

" Hey Olive " I said.

" Hi Isabelle "she replied.

" Seen Alice yet " I asked.

" Yeah , she can't make it. So it's just you and me " Olive said.

"Oh... well I guess that's fine. " I said.

" Yeah... " she replied.

" I'll be back in a sec , I'm gonna get a coffee " I said.

" What can I get you today " the counter lady asked.

" A large mocha frappe please I replied

" Ok " She said.

I took my coffee then sat down by Olive.

" So are you excited " I asked her.

" A little , but I'm mostly nervous " she answered.

" I feel you. I was hoping not to be picked , but of course it happened " I said.

" Sooooo" Olive said.

"Ummm , how old are you " I asked

" 13 " she said.

" Me too " I said.

"Cool... " She said.

"This is awkward " I said.

" Yeah , but I was kinda wondering what is your elemental level? At the school that lady seemed shocked " Olive asked.

" 28.... " I said

" OH MY GOD!!!! That is insane.

I'm only on level 9! " Olive said spitting out her latte.

" I know , I don't know how that happened" I said.

" That isn't normal. The average level for a 13 year old is 7-10. 28 is for 26 year olds! Is there something you don't know about yourself "Olive asked.

" I always been questioning my parents about my level , but the only thing they say is you're a fast learner. " I said.

" I believe they're hiding something from you. There has to be more than a fast learner. " Olive said.

" You're right! I have to find out the truth! I'm no longer expecting their lies. " I said then drank some of my mocha frappe.

" You go do that ! You need learn the truth " she replied.

" Thanks , but before I go here's my phone number.

I bursted through the house doors to see my mom watching TV and my dad about to leave for work.

"Is everything ok sweetie? " My mom asked.

" Ok , no more lies I want to know the truth!

Why is my level so high! I know I'm more then a fast learner. I'm not dumb!" I said.

" I knew this day would come. sit down" my dad said.

" Well , we did not want to tell you this but you were adopted.

The man at the adoption center said you were special , and he can't tell us where you came from. So we adopted you. When we got home we noticed you were doing level 7 darkness powers at the age of 5. We knew something wasn't normal about you.

We still don't know how you became so powerful. That is something you will have to find out on your own. " My mom said.

" I am adopted!? And you never told me. " I said.

" We didn't want you to find out , because we were afraid you would run away and try to find out the truth behind your life" my dad said.

" I can't believe I'm adopted. All this time I thought I was your child , but I am an adopted child. I've been living a lie. " I said.

" Isabelle , don't think of it like that. Imagine where you would be of we didn't adopt you. " My mom said.

" I know I just can't believe I'm just learning about this.

Where was I at before the adoption center ?" I asked.

" That is something you'll have to find out on your own. Now I have to get to work. " My dad said.

" Bye. Have a good day " I said.

I looked at my phone to see Olive texted me.

" Did you learn the truth. " She asked.

"Yeah " I said.

" What is it! " She asked.

"I was adopted , and they don't know my history " I said.

" You were adopted! " Olive said.

" I know. " I replied.

" At least you finally got a real answer" she said.

" Yeah... but I'll never find out the truth behind my life " I said.

" Don't worry .. you'll find out someday , just not today " Olive said
