near your village or collection of villages is a garrison/fort meant to watch over the conquered place. the commander was kind and fair, not taxing the people more than they could give and not randomly loot and burn villages.
the people want to keep the commanders favor, so your father, along with helping providing the soldiers grain ration, tries to sell you to the fort commander as a concubine
