Shopping Trip and Dinner

The day went by in a whirlwind. You found a very good-looking pair of round metal frames for Tech, which reminded you of his goggles and not Harry Potter. You had noted it in his file for later. It turns out, his vision wasn't all that bad, but enough to make things blurry far away.

The doctor decided to order a pizza for the office, opting for a cheese for you and a Supreme for everyone else. It was fun to watch Tech handle this food for the first time, but he seemed to enjoy it well enough.

While you see patients, Tech stays in the back room with his helmet and your tablet, watching the English be translated to Aurebesh for ease of reading. He poured through different articles on Wikipedia as well as some news articles. You warned him that he should be wary of what he reads in the news, as misinformation is used to promote a certain narrative.

As the last patient of the day no-shows, you let Tech know it is time to go. He gathers up his things and heads out to your car. He sees they, in some ways, resembled vehicles in busy cities like Coruscant, but were grounded, not able to hover or fly through the air. He noted that, while your society seemed in some ways to be advanced, it was really primitive. Barely have humans made manned missions to the only moon, and have only sent out probes to other planets in the system.

You stop by a Target on your way home, wanting to get Tech some clothes and necessities for his stay. You weren't sure if this was a permanent thing, or if you would find him gone someday. Despite not knowing him more than what was presented on the show, you were okay with opening your home to him. At least until he decided to move on, although you really didn't want that to happen. Those were thoughts you didn't want to unpack right now.

As you went through the racks of mens clothes, you were able to figure out sizes for things. You make sure to buy things like briefs (was George Lucas serious when he said there was no underwear in space?), socks, a few shirts and a couple pairs of pants. Thank god you had just gotten paid that day!

Tech noticed the prices on the tags, not sure if credits were an equivalent system to the dollar, but he had calculated that you were spending a large amount of money on him. Guessing by your meager living situation, he figured you did not have a lot of money, let alone to spend on a stranger.

He clears his throat to get your attention. "Excuse me, but I cannot help to notice that you are spending a lot on things for me. I do not want to be rude or seem unappreciative of your help, but I do not want you to spend so much on my account." You turn toward him with a smile. "It's okay, Tech. I just got paid today, and you need some clothes. If it makes you feel better, we can grab only a few things here and get you other clothes from a second-hand store. I really don't mind though." Your eyes radiate that kindness you have been showing him since he arrived.

While he appreciates all that you have done, he does wonder if there is an altruistic reason. He decides not to speak on that for now, not wanting to hurt your feelings or cause a scene. He continues following you around that store as you get him some hygiene care items, so he wouldn't have to use your tea tree smelling body wash.

You head over to the grocery side and gather items for dinner. You figured chicken with wild rice and broccoli might be a nice meal for you both. You look over at Tech looking at some apples.  "Would you like some? The Gala ones are my favorite." He pushes his goggles up his nose and nods. You grab a few and some bananas. You also decide to grab some vanilla ice cream for dessert later.

You pay for your items and head for home. Tech continues to focus on what you drive past, noticing the sun setting behind the mountains. You open up your apartment door as you both carry bags in from the store. You grab the food and start to unload as you see Tech standing outside your kitchenette. His eyes are looking down and he has a frown on his face.
