Chapter 39

Christmas had hit sooner than anyone had realized and it left JJ in a horrible mood. Once again the extended Jareau family was all in the house enjoying a perfect Christmas Eve party besides the teenaged blonde whom has locked herself away in her bedroom. Spencer walked up the stairs and straight into the bedroom without knocking he found JJ laying on her bed with a tear stained face. "How you managed to not get dehydrated I'll never know." Spencer joked.

"We only have two weeks left together." She sobbed into her pillow.

The brunette sat on the end of the bed and pulled his girlfriend up so she could rest on his shoulder. "And we'll make the best of those two weeks." Spencer smiled moving the blonde hair over JJ's shoulder leaving access to her bare neck, slowly he he placed an open mouth kiss on her slender skin.

JJ giggled and moaned before pushing Spencer away. "I have family down stairs."

"Then let's go celebrate Christmas with them." Spencer replied standing up from the bed and taking JJ's hand.

She pulled back in it stopping him from moving. "Wait, there is something I want to give you." She reached into her side table and pulled out a nicely wrapped gift with a blue ribbon on top.

Spencer took the gift in his hands and gently opened it, it was a white box with no logos or other hints on what it could be. He gingerly took off the lid and looked inside, there was a picture of the two of them from the tenth grade, they were sitting together on the grass during a Fourth of July fireworks display. They were cuddled together admiring the scene before them, both JJ and Spencer were deeply in love with that picture so Sandy had printed two copies to give to each child. A few weeks later Diana was in one of her states and destroyed the picture because she had no recollection of who was in it.

Spencer ran his fingers down the frame of the picture. "JJ-" he started but stopped, he couldn't find the right words to say to her.

"Do you like it?" She asked.

"Well that's a stupid question." He laughed embracing her in a hug. "I love it so much. thank you!"

JJ moved to rest her head in his chest. "You can hang it anywhere you want. And when I come and visit we can take new pictures to put up."

Spencer smiled then shifted a little to take JJ's gift out of his pocket, it was wrapped in shiny purple paper and was barley bigger than her fist. She peeled back the paper to find a small necklace case. JJ smiled brightly before lifting the lid and gasped! Inside the case was a simple silver chain with a heart shaped pendant on it and next to the pendant was a key. JJ looked up to meet Spencer's eye. "If you ever run away, or want to come visit you can just walk right in no questions asked." JJ smiled throwing her arms around his neck and kissing him deeply.

"I love you." She said as Spencer lifted the necklace and clasped it around her neck.

A few weeks passed, exams were done, the house was packed and sold, and Spencer was standing next to the shuttle to the plane with all his friends and family. Garcia and Derek were finishing their goodbyes when the Jareau's pulled up in their car.

Emily stepped forward next embracing him in a tight hug. "I'll miss you ringworm." She sighed.

"You guys know you can always visit." Spencer told them in all seriousness.

Gillian ran out the car and nearly knocked Spencer over when she threw her arms around him. "Email me everyday!" She demanded through her tears.

"I promise Gill. I'll even send you letters." Sandy and her husband were the next to say goodbye to Spencer, they wished him well and loaded him up in food for the air port as well as fun decorations for his new home.

Finally it was JJ's turn to say goodbye. She slowly made her way over embracing him in deep hug while he stroked her hair. "I want you to promise me something." She whispered.

"Anything." He replied.

"Wait for me?" Those words completely caught Spencer off guard, he was too awkward and in love with JJ to ever meet another woman. "I mean it, you're smart and handsome and any girl would love to get to know you... I know it's a lot to ask but I'll do the same here."

He leaned down so his lips were next to her ear. "I promise." In one swift movement JJ's hand reached up to hold his cheek while she turned her head to capture his lips in a passionate kiss.

Everyone around them stood in shock after seeing what had just happened, everyone besides Emily. Once the couple pulled apart they hugged one last time before Spencer headed into the shuttle, as it drove away everyone waved as he waved back
