"Who did this?" I asked furiously.
"I have no idea but people are saying Daven broke up with you." Olivia answered.
"Urgh. I don't give a flying fart. They can do whatever they want." I deadpanned.
Soon enough, I got to my 'appointment' with Daven. That's what I'll call it since it's not a date.
"What am I here for?" Daven deadpanned.
The people kept whispering about us while looking at us which made me uncomfortable. I had to bear with it. Daven coughed to remind me, he was waiting for an answer.
"I want to know if you're going to break up with me." I stated.
"Yes." Daven said.
"Then it's over." I said immediately.
"What?" Daven said.
"I'm breaking up with you, sorry though." I said.
"You're a really good player and heartbreaker." Daven said curtly.
I showed a fake smile and got up to leave then Daven held my hand.
"You never loved me." Daven deadpanned.
"Um yeah." I said.
"Just a friend. Probably not a friend even. But I love you. Ashley, hurting others doesn't heal your pain." Daven deadpanned.
He let go of my hand and got up and left. I got out and went home but his words and the memories we shared kept popping in my head.
"But I love you."
He did love me, very much. More than I ever loved myself. All I did was throw his heart into a dumpster. My family was right, he really loves me. But I don't love him, I only saw him as friend, which he didn't see it that way.
I didn't love him because I still loved Alvin, I just couldn't love anymore. I called Daven but it seems he didn't pick up. I just sent him a message.

●Daven, I'm terribly sorry but I just
couldn't love you back.
○Just leave me alone.
He went offline and I just fell on my bed and slept the moment I got home. The weeks ahead was repetition of the same routine, go to school, learn, go on a date with a jerk who asks me out, hang out with Olivia, keep on being popular, come home, eat, do homework and sleep. Until another boy..
"Why are you late to class, Ms. Scott?" Mr. O'Brien said, our chemistry teacher.
"Sir-" I said before Mr. O'Brien interrupted.
"It's okay, since Sage doesn't have a partner, you'll be his partner." Mr. O'Brien stated.
Sage was the cute nerd I talked to first on my first day of school. I sat by him quietly and glanced at him as he tried to look everywhere but my beautiful face. He had brunette long bangs, fair skin and ice blue eyes.
"So you're the girl who is second best in this school." Sage deadpanned.
"No, you're the second best." I corrected.
"We'll see about that." Sage deadpanned.
Our project was the best and it got an A.
We were academic rivals but we made a great team.
"I guess brains and beauty." Sage deadpanned.
"You think I'm beautiful?" I chirped.
"Yeah." Sage said.
"Okay." I stated.
"Aren't you going to say 'thanks'?" Sage questioned.
"Why?" I asked.
"I complimented you." Sage said.
"You stated a fact, a fact, there's no gratitude for that." I said curtly.
"Sure whatever." Sage said nonchalantly.
He walked off immediately and I took the opposite route. Sage and I became besties over the years. We graduated from high school together. I no longer trusted girls because of Melissa so Sage was the person I talked to all the time. In my opinion, boy besties and better than girl besties. One day, I came home to get a family announcement from mom.
"Kids, your dad wants you to visit him." Mom said in a low tone.
