Leia
Tell me, what do those six letters mean to you?
Would you give an answer? Would you be true?
A comforting touch, feathery kisses
Among a web of lies, the world dismisses.
I was raised right, you taught me everything I know
But who was I to become, shed the light
Even when people hate who I show?
'Practicality was the way to go,
'Be selfless, take the path you wish to know.
Always have a long-term goal.
Never be the game. Realize that sometimes you fall,'
The best lessons I learned were under your roof,
We watched movies, acted aloof
Thank you for being my safe space
Through you, I felt bulletproof.
My teen years were unforgettable,
Horrid experiences irreversible,
Mom and Dad, you were the people who stayed unmovable,
The light at the end of my tunnel;
You constantly made me feel lovable.
At the age of thirteen,
Insufferable, vulnerable I became
For the actions of others, I took the blame.
I forgot everything I stood for,
The ground beneath me crumbled,
'How long had I been gone for?'
At the thought, my heart trembled.
I fell for the pretty, white lies,
Of guys who couldn't read my eyes
They took advantage of the chances,
Eventually put me on the sidelines.
Everything I thought I knew,
It was all a ruse.
'It was just a game,
the joke is on you,'
Your love fuels my love for everybody
I set them on a pedestal, no limits were known to me.
The one person I couldn't love, however,
Is the same person you call your daughter.
