Poet's Recital

50 9 11

Confidence growing in his work from all the nice feedback,

The poet is ready to spread his wings and deliver a verbal attack,

He has joined a local circle of poets, who meet at a nearby pub,

They read their works aloud to each other, seems like a good club.

The first time that he visits he just watches from the back,

Just wants to get a feel of how this group give out flak,

The performers that he sees seem to be well received,

The poet considers his work as good and starts to feel at ease.

Next time he visits he decides to do the Open-mic,

He has chosen a profound piece he thinks they all will like,

But stage-fright hits him from the start, his voice is thin and weak,

It does not go as expected, the words are hard to speak.

He has discovered that on paper his words may carry great weight,

But when he verbally presents them they just do not sound great!
