Eventually, they made it back to the Sully family marui. Inside the home that was illuminated by a crackling fire that burned beneath a hanging pot of stew, Kiri and Tsireya were crouched beside it, each taking turns stirring the pot with a wooden stick. Lo'ak and Spider were hanging around, making a feeble attempt to pluck the seaweed out of little Tuk's hair, who brightened upon seeing her big brother. His parents helped Neteyam sit down, his brow beading with sweat, while Fey'atsi approached him with a small round bowl of water.
"Here," she handed him the bowl, bending down slightly. "I put some of the medicine in there, if that's alright." Feya looked up expectantly at Jake, but she mostly looked to Neytiri for approval of her actions. Neteyam saw something close to a motherly pride bloom in Neytiri's eyes, and she nodded, a warm smile parting her lips. "Yes, that's fine."
When Feya stood up, relieved, Neteyam watched out of the corner of his eye Neytiri gently took her arm and whispered, "You are a wonderful girl, Fey'atsi."
Neteyam smiled to himself upon hearing his mother praise the girl. Surprisingly, he didn't know much about Feya's parents other than he knew she had multiple adopted families, but something about the way her ears perked up and how there was now an irrepressible smile across her face told Neteyam she was delighted by Neytiri's words. He actually did know one of Feya's spirit mother's, a woman named Ilieya, who was the one she abided with the most. Neteyam always saw the two of them together ever since he was little and he knew their bond was unmatched.
Neteyam did as he was told and periodically drank all the water, while keeping an eye on his siblings. When he was done, Feya came and plopped down next to him, her expression glowing. "Lo'ak told me that when you guys were little, you tied him to a tree."
Neteyam choked with laughter and set down his empty bowl, turning his head to look at his friend. "I did—he was wanting to go agitate some viperwolves, so I used a rope and tied him against a tree trunk. Dad found him later and I got in trouble."
"You left him there?" Feya asked, bewildered. She blinked at him in disbelief, "That is just evil."
"I was around!"
Fey'atsi busted up in small bouts of laughter and twiddled with the end of her braid, seemingly unaware of the wild adventures Neteyam and his siblings (especially his brother) had when they were younger. Her tail laid flat against the floor behind her and Neteyam looked at it, taking notice of how every other minute it twitched friskily. The two of them eased into a comfortable silence as they watched the rest of their family, occasionally stealing a glance at one another before they turned away, blushing equally. Luckily, Spider and Lo'ak managed to rid Tuk of the kelp in her hair and they came to sit down, while Neytiri handed them each a bowl of soup.
Kiri and Tsireya talked together as they dished up bowls for everyone, including themselves. This was after Tsireya was preparing to leave but she was invited to stay at Neytiri's request, so, she kindly thanked the woman before her and Kiri found their spots beside Lo'ak and Spider. The Sully's knew better than most that Spider, considering he was still a human child no matter how feral he was, couldn't eat all the foods the Na'vi could, so Jake carefully removed all the ingredients that would be poisonous to him before he gave the bowl back.
"Thank you, Mother." Neteyam said, as he took his own dinner. "And Kiri, and Tsireya."
After he voiced his thanks, the rest of his siblings followed in his footsteps. First Lo'ak mimicked him, then Spider, and then Tuk.
Neteyam snickered cunningly, and that made Fey'atsi laugh even though he hadn't said anything funny. "You know," Neteyam began, leaning over to speak to her, "My father tells me that where he came from, his dad used a leather strap to hit him and his brother whenever they did something bad."
