The cove was quiet today. Eclipse had just started while the three girls waded through the deep waters of the home of the Metkiyana. The temperature outside was not as hot as it had been the past couple of days. It was cool, and the gentle breeze blew across the blue waves.
Tsireya and Kiri rode their ilu's with ease through the ripples. Fey'atsi was hitching a ride with Kiri considering she didn't have her own yet.
"Where is Lo'ak and Spider?" asked Kiri, halting.
"They were not invited," informed Tsireya, coming to a stop in front of her forest comrades. "I thought it would be good to have some girl time."
Feya smiled with all her teeth. Kiri lifted her head up to the sky and muttered, "Oh, thank Eywa."
Feya dipped her three-fingered hand into the calm waters and twirled it around, relishing the feeling of the ocean weaving through her fingers. The sea here was beautiful, especially where they were floating about, near the seawall where the men and women were fishing. She loved it here.
"Fey'atsi , I apologize that we have not visited the Cove of the Ancestors yet. Perhaps when all of us are here, we may go." Tsireya said, her tone soft and kind.
"That would be amazing." breathed Feya, her eyes wandering over every creature and formation that inhabited the sea. "But don't be sorry. I am having fun just by being here."
"What should we talk about?" Kiri asked, stroking her ilu. "The past few days have been full of sadness. I'd like to hear about what made Dad bring you here, Feya." The fourteen-year-old girl smirked. Tsireya smiled and nodded her head, "Yes, tell us!"
"Ooh," Feya fiddled with the beads woven into her top, "Well, it wasn't my plan. Neteyam and I became close during his recovery at High Camp. When it was time for him to leave, he asked if I wanted to come along. I said yes."
Tsireya clasped her hands together and squealed as Kiri just shook her head and laughed. Feya instantly knew what they were excited over, and she looked down, her cheeks flushing with heat.
"He asked you to come?" Giggled the reef princess, her blue eyes shining. "That is so cute."
"I'm pretty sure Olo'eyktan--" Feya paused and corrected her choice of words. "I mean JakeSully was going to say no." Jake Sully was technically no longer leader, and even if he was, he wouldn't be one here. But she was so used to calling him Olo'eyktan it was hard to shed the habit. "But Neteyam convinced him."
"What did you guys do the whole time?" Kiri pondered, looking back at Feya. Her pretty yellow irises were reflecting the bright sun that loomed over the ocean.
"We played lots of games--like tag and hide and seek. We helped many of the children make toys and woven things like nets and bracelets. It was very fun." She smiled as she recalled the activities they did. "He and I ate together almost every day."
Then, she looked up at Tsireya. "I've noticed you and Lo'ak are pretty close. Why don't we talk about him?"
At the mention of the boy, Tsireya sighed and began twisting her curly hair into loops around her hand, looking off into the distance. "He is a skxwang, but he is so sweet. I can't help but adore him. However, I think he is a little misunderstood sometimes. He has had a lot on his mind lately, so we haven't spoken much."
