The next morning, Alexander walked into the cafe, expecting to see Scarlett behind the counter. Instead, he saw a different barista working there. He was confused until he spotted Scarlett in the corner, talking to a customer. She was smiling and laughing, her eyes shining with excitement.

Alexander's heart started racing as he watched Scarlett chatting with a customer. He was determined to find a way to talk to her, but he didn't want to interrupt her. As he pondered his next move, he noticed that the customer was starting to make a move on Scarlett. Mr. Alexander's jealousy flared up, and he felt a sudden urge to protect her. He quickly walked over to the table and interrupted their conversation. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but I need to speak with Scarlett," he said.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Alexander?" Scarlett asked, her brow furrowed in confusion. Mr. Alexander took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. "I just wanted to say that I'm sorry if I've been pushy or overbearing," he said, his voice shaking. "I know you have every right to be wary of me, but I hope you'll give me a chance to prove myself." Scarlett looked at him, her expression unreadable. "I appreciate your apology," she said.

Mr. Alexander hesitated, not sure how to proceed. He didn't want to push his luck, but he also didn't want to let this opportunity slip through his fingers. Finally, he blurted out, "Would you go out to dinner with me?" Scarlett's eyes widened in surprise. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. After a moment, she took a deep breath and said, "I'm not sure. I need some time to think about it." Mr. Alexander nodded, feeling both relieved and disappointed.

As Scarlett and Mr. Alexander were talking, Sophie, rushed over to her. "I'm sorry to interrupt," she said, her face pale. "But there's something wrong with the coffee machine. It's spilling water everywhere and we can't get it to stop." Scarlett's eyes widened in alarm. "Oh no, that's not good," she said, immediately springing into action. "Mr. Alexander, I'm sorry, but I have to deal with this."

Alexander could see that this was a serious problem, and he didn't want to get in the way. "I completely understand," he said. "You go take care of it, and I'll be here when you're done." Scarlett nodded gratefully and hurried off to deal with the crisis. Mr. Alexander watched her go, a mix of admiration and concern on his face. He truly cared about Scarlett, and he hoped that she would be able to resolve the issue quickly.

Despite Scarlett's best efforts, the coffee machine continued to leak, creating a huge mess. Water was pooling on the floor, and there was no sign of the leak stopping. Scarlett was starting to panic, worried about the potential damage to the cafe. She looked around, trying to think of a solution, but nothing came to mind. That's when she heard Mr. Alexander's voice. "Is there anything I can do to help?" he asked.

Scarlett was grateful for Mr. Alexander's offer, and she accepted his help. While she continued to try to stem the flow of water, Mr. Alexander called the company that sold them the coffee machine. After explaining the situation, they promised to send a technician right away. Mr. Alexander then got down on the floor and helped Scarlett mop up the water. The two of them worked in silence, the only sound the dripping of the machine.

The technician arrived, and he quickly assessed the situation. He apologized for the inconvenience and promised to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Scarlett watched him work, feeling a sense of relief. She looked over at Alexander, who was still mopping up the water. "Thank you so much for your help," she said, a grateful smile on her face. Mr. Alexander looked up from the floor, a smile on his lips. "It's no problem," he said, his eyes meeting hers.

The technician wiped his brow and stood up, a satisfied look on his face. "I'm happy to report that the coffee machine is now fixed," he said, addressing Scarlett and Mr. Alexander. "It was a simple problem with a valve that had gotten stuck. I've adjusted it and everything should be working fine now." Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief, and Mr. Alexander gave her a knowing look. "That's wonderful news," she said, feeling a wave of gratitude.

Alexander took a deep breath and gathered his courage. "I know it might be a bit forward, but would you like to go out to dinner with me sometime?" he asked, hoping she wouldn't find the question too bold. Scarlett was caught off guard by the question, but she found herself smiling. She knew that she needed to be honest with herself and with Mr. Alexander. She didn't want him to get the wrong idea, and she didn't want to string him along. "Look, I just want to be honest with you," she said, her voice shaking a little. "I'm only agreeing to this date because I feel like I owe you a favor for helping me out today." Mr. Alexander's face fell a little, but he nodded. "I appreciate your honesty," he said.

Scarlett was determined to keep the date as casual and friendly as possible. "I think we should have the date in my cafe," she said, hoping he would agree. "It's a place I'm comfortable in. "Alexander smiled, grateful that she was comfortable enough to suggest such a thing. "I'd love to," he said, his heart filling with warmth. "I'd love to get to know more about the place that means so much to you."

"My aunt was an amazing baker," she said, her voice full of nostalgia. "She taught me everything I know about baking." Alexander could see how much the cafe meant to Scarlett, and he was touched by the story. "It's clear that you put your heart and soul into this place," he said a warm smile on his face.

Even though Mr. Alexander was intrigued by Scarlett's story, he noticed that she was holding back. He didn't want to push her to share more than she was comfortable with. "I don't want to pry," he said, choosing his words carefully. "I just want you to know that I admire what you've created here." Scarlett's eyes welled up with emotion. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "That means so much to me."

As the date came to a close, Mr. Alexander couldn't help but wonder about Scarlett's daughter. "I'm curious," he said, his voice gentle. "How do you manage to be a mother and run this cafe at the same time?" Scarlett took a deep breath, a small smile on her lips. "It's not easy," she admitted, her eyes full of love. "But I try to make sure my daughter knows that she's my number one priority, no matter what." Alexander was impressed by Scarlett's dedication and determination.

Just as Mr. Alexander and Scarlett were enjoying their conversation, his phone started to ring. He looked at the caller ID and saw that it was his assistant, Sarah. "Sorry," he said, feeling a little flustered. "I have to take this." He answered the phone and listened to Sarah's urgent voice. "I'm sorry to interrupt," she said, sounding stressed. "But there's a crisis at work and you are needed here." Mr. Alexander's heart sank as he realized he had to leave.

Scarlett could see the conflict on Mr. Alexander's face, and she knew he was torn between his work and their date. "Go," she said, giving him a reassuring smile. "Work is important, and I understand." Mr. Alexander was taken aback by her understanding and support. "Thank you," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "I appreciate your understanding." He hesitated for a moment, not wanting to leave without saying something more. "I'd like to see you again," he said, his voice sincere.
