Nandini was busy folding the clothes at night while her mother in law was gossiping about the neighbours, "Uski bahu pata hai, abhi joh saal pehle byah ke laye the aur ek ladki bhi thi. Unke ghar pe ek kaam karta tha, uske saath bhaag gi. Itna bada kacheri main saab tha uska pati, usko chod ke ek kaam vale saath bhaag gi. Bechara kahi muh dikhane layak nahi raha."

Aashish looked up and defended by saying, "Toh kya? Uska pati kitne nashe karta tha. Kya pata woh naukar acha ho aur usse pyaar karta ho."

"Ye kaisi baate kar raha hai? Woh shaadi shuda thi. Ek bache ki maa. Usse chod ke bhaag gi. Kitni badkirdar ladki hai," his Maa said in anger. Aashish shook his head while Nandini ignored both of them, caressing her six month belly from time to time.

She looked up when Manik entered the house, talking with one of the villagers and got up to fetch glasses of water. Serving it over to them, she stood to one side as a few minutes later, he finished his conversation with the man. As he walked out, Nandini followed Manik as he walked to their room after greeting his mother and brother.

When both of them were out of view from other members, Nandini called out, "Suniye toh." Manik turned around in question. As she walked along with him slowly, his arm wrapped around her shoulder, supporting her. When she didn't speak anything, opening and then closing her mouth as if thinking, he asked, "Kya hua?"

She looked up at him and then shook her head. Manik frowned but didn't say anything, nodding his head. When they continued walking, she stared at him from time to time and then finally said, "Woh–woh ice cream khaani hai." When he looked at her, he was amused as she stammered, "Woh apke bache ko khaani hai."

"Mera?" Manik enquired with raised eyebrows. Nandini pressed her lips together and then instead held his hand as she mumbled, "Chale toh." Shaking his head, he moved along with her, stopping suddenly when she did. He looked at her and she said, "Mahir ko bulana hai na. Woh royega varna."

"Nahi. Woh soh gaya hoga," Manik said, not wanting their kid to interrupt their time while Nandini frowned at him as she said, "Woh nahi soya. Woh khel raha hai. Aap bhi kese karte hai bechare bache saath."

Before he could say something, Nandini called out to Mahir. He rolled his eyes as Mahir came running to them and mumbled, "Saare khandan ko hi le chalte hai."

Nandini held Mahir's hand, smiling as he excitedly walked beside her. When they reached the verandah, Manik informed his mother about them going out for ice cream. As if God was listening to Manik, Mahir couldn't help himself as he asked his lovely choti bua who was sitting quietly, "Bua, aap bhi."

Nandini smiled, as her sister in law looked at them questioningly. before she got up and joined them. Manik rolled his eyes and looked at Ashish as he said, "Tu bhi chal le."

Ashish looked at his mother and when she patted his arm, he shrugged as he got up, forcing a smile as he folliowed all of them out of the door. While they walked on the street with Mahir chatting away with his bua, Manik was looking over both of them, closely following behind as Nandini walked with him slowly. Ashish was walking behind them quietly, swallowing, feeling himself arouse as his eyes drank in every inch of Nandini from back.

Due to her pregnancy, it had been difficult for him to control himself as she gained weight, her breasts turning more bigger and curving at all the right places. The only thing stopping him from making a move was that he was patiently waiting for her to go through her pregnancy because his family was never going to agree, so when they will run, which she definitely will since why would she want to stay with his brother, he didn't want any children which weren't his.

He gritted his teeth as he watched Manik holding her hand, steadying her, as Nandini was about to twist due to a stone on the path. Manik glared at her as Nandini tried to shake off his hold, not wanting anyone to see, and scolded, "Ek toh theek se ni chalti. Aur phir madad bhi nahi karne degi."

"Toh padhar ke vajah se girne wali thi," Nandini muttered, making him grumble, "Haan ab pathar ki galti hai. Khud dekh ke ni chalna."

"Aap kam bole aur ice cream khilaye mujhe. Apke bete ko bhuk lagi hai," Nandini said. Manik looked at her and said, "Beta? Mujhe beti chahiye."

"Kyu?" Nandini asked, resting her hand on her stomach, confused. Manik stared at Mahir, shouting at him to be careful as he was teasing a street dog, making the dog bark, before answering, "Toh ek bahut nahi hai. Doh doh saara din aafat khadi kardenge. Upar se ye tere se baat tak karu toh royega, dono mil kar toh mujhe kamre se nikal de."

"Toh kitna acha hoga. Aap apni Maa saath sona, ye apni," Nandini said, teasing him and laughing as he glared at her, making him shake his head. They continued walking for a few minutes quietly until she asked in worry, "Toh agar ye ladka hua toh?"

Manik eyed her, smirking as he immediately replied, "Toh ek aur karlenge." Nandini felt her cheeks coloring, avoiding his gaze and moving away as they reached the ice cream corner, making him smile.

While all of them were busy looking for ice cream, Manik turned towards his brother, who was not going and asked, "Tune nahi leni?" Ashish shook his head, forcing a smile. Manik nodded before he walked away to pay while Ashish stared at him.

After paying, as Ashish walked behind the couple, he gritted his teeth as Nandini's soft voice reached his ears as she asked Manik, "Aap khayenge?" When Manik shook his head, she insisted, "Ek bite? Bohot achi hai." Before Manik could deny again, she forward her ice cream towards him, holding it in front of his mouth. Ashish fisted his hands, his eyes burning as Manik held Nandini's hand with a smirk, making her suck in a breath as he held her gaze as he took a bite.

Ashish breathed out, the only thing stopping him was that he knew they were not having sex. She was six months pregnant, how could she have it.

"Ek aur bite dena, Nandini," Manik said a few minutes later, teasing her. He watched in amusement as she narrowed her eyes at him before focusing back on her ice cream and mumbled, "Apni khud ki leke aaye aap."

"Kesi biwi hai yaar tu? Pati bhagwan saman hota hai. Aur tu apne bhagwan saman pati ko ice cream ni degi. Tujhe paap lagega," Manik said, repeating her last line which she usually said whenever he asked for something she wasn't willing for.

"Pati se pehle bacha aata hai. Usko bhuk lagi hai. Apni leke aau aap ab," Nandini said, enjoying the delicacy, refusing to give in to his demand, knowing it was more about other things than eating the ice cream. Manik was amused but happy that at least she was getting comfortable around him with hope that they could maintain it, not knowing that his own brother was cursing his existence with the hope to break the couple apart.
