“Come here”

“Jes” Jade tapped Jesy, pointing at their teacher.

“Me?”

“Yes, come here” Once close enough the woman grabbed her upper arm and sat her at a desk near the window. She wrote on a piece of paper ‘I will sit still’ and told Jesy to repeat it fifty times.

“Write, if you're not finished by lunch time you won't go out for recess, understand?”

Jesy nodded and began writing her lines, but she soon became distracted by the ladybug that was crawling around the windowsill. She scooped the red and black bug into her hand and set it on her desk.

“Hi, im Jesy. Whats your name?”

“Ladybug?”

“Hi ladybug. How is your day?” She began holding a conversation with the bug which angered her teacher.

“Jessica!” Her head snapped in the direction of the woman.

“How many lines have you done? Not even one. You have the attention span of a fish.”The woman put the paper over the insect before smashing it.

“Write your lines” Jesy stared at the crushed bug as tears welled in her eyes.
