He was funny
He was smart
But they hated him
And so did I
Little did we know
He longed to see her smile
He craved for her attention
Doing anything to get one shred
A smirk perhaps
A slice of the smiles he used to know
And a taste of the girl
He used to love
But she refused
And he gave up
Deciding he just wasn't enough
And I knew his struggle
But I didn't say a word
He left her
And so the story told
But there were parts missing
And I ignored it
Until my heart grew cold
I wanted warmth
And I turned to him
Knowing he was trouble
Knowing he was danger
But I craved something new
So I turned to him
He led me to the side of life
Where your wallet was important
And your happiness was not
Where you were the victim
But you pretended you were not
Because to give them their satisfaction
Was to slowly end your life
And I gave him his
So left me there
Like he left her
He left me bruised and broken
Used and fragile
Gasping for air
Feeling the fire in my head
And realizing
I should have listened
To those who were always there
But a taste of danger was all it took
So I was gone
Like her
I was afraid
And like him
I was bitter
And together
They made me numb
