Life of Music [12.9]

Liu Hang believed that the story described in the lyrics and the artistry displayed in the song accurately described their experiences. Jing Yang sang this song, and he felt it must be sung to memorialize their story. He even had the impression that Jing Yang must still have feelings for him, since if he didn't, he wouldn't be able to sing with such sincerity. Such thoughts gave him more hope for the future.

Not to mention that Jing Yang picked this song by random. Even if he does decide to perform this song, it would have nothing to do with Liu Hang.

So, there must be some reason for classics to become classics. This song was written about the varied feelings that many people felt when they reflected on the past. When combined with Jing Yang's good vocal abilities and talent to evoke emotions in others, it was not only Liu Hang who believed that this song was performed just for themselves, but all the audiences as well.

If you had to name someone who hasn't been moved by Jing Yang's singing, it's Ji Xiao. He's also the only one who focuses solely on Jing Yang's technique. Because he is the only one who harbors more ill thoughts about Jing Yang than anyone else and couldn't wait for Jing Yang to make mistakes.

Ji Xiao's mood worsens as Jing Yang sings better. Singing is almost the only thing Ji Xiao is certain he can beat Chu Yang at. But just when he thought he could defeat Chu Yang by singing, it broke into powder and was swept away by the wind out of nowhere.

Ji Xiao had not expected Chu Yang to be able to sing at this level in such a short amount of time. He squeezed his fists tightly, consoling himself in his heart. He had to believe he could sing better than Chu Yang.

Jing Yang's performance has come to an end. However, many people are still engrossed in music and do not want to leave that overwhelming sensation behind. After all the music had stopped and the lights had turned on, it was still incredibly silent, with no sound at all.

Originally, the host had to wait for the cheers to subside down before he took the stage and thanked the audience. The applause, however, never came, and the crew had to take the stage first to bring the audience back to reality.

The host stood beside Jing Yang and said, "Chu Yang, the fourth contestant, has finished singing. I believe the audience has yet to recover. Hello everyone, I'd like to hear your thoughts. What do you think about his performance?"

The audience, which had been brought back to reality by the host's call, erupted in applause. "Good!!"

Although the clapping for Jing Yang was a little late, the audience was so enthralled by his performance that they continued to applaud him for a long time.
"All right, all right," the host, who had been waiting for the applause to end, had to raise his hand to keep the audience from clapping.

The female judge on Gu Mang's left side, Zhang Lanxin, was the first to make a statement, "First of all, the vocal abilities are excellent; there are no errors, the timbre is excellent, and the appeal is great. It's not like a rookie singer at all, it's better than many professional singers, and it's impossible to criticize."

"Your singing abilities are just outstanding." Qi Huan, the male judge at Gu Mang's right, commented. "When you sing, you use your words, your pronunciation, and your breath very well. Since not every syllable has to be sung really clearly, it is a good technique. The placement of ambiguity must be vague, but the degree of vagueness can be difficult to grasp at times, and the sound transmission is particularly challenging in this song, yet you handled the details flawlessly."

Zhang Lanxin said with a nod, "I believe his most powerful feature is not his singing abilities, but a type of power that causes people to unconsciously forget whether he is singing well or not.

People can't help but become entirely absorbed in the emotion evoked by the music. To be able to achieve this is a huge accomplishment for a singer. Because when we listen to music, we are listening to the emotions that it evokes in us, and this is what it means to enjoy music."

The host exclaimed, "The two judges have very high evaluation on Chu Yang. This should be the first candidate to receive such a high compliment in the first round since this competition began.

However, there is someone who is notorious for being harsh with singers, and he has remained silent until now. Is he pleased with Chu Yang's performance or unsatisfied with it?"

"I believe these two were very excited and forgot to leave me a few phrases. They said everything I wanted to say. So, it's not that I don't want to speak, but there's nothing else to say." Gu Mang spoke into the microphone.

Because of Gu Mang's remark, everyone laughed, and the other two judges rose in hurry and bowed to apologize to Gu Mang. Gu Mang is their senior, and the senior claimed that they had stolen what he wanted to say. Whether it's true or not, they have to appear apologetic. Since the trio was being so amusing, the audience laughed even harder.

After laughing, the host said, "Then the three judges, please give your points!"

Gu Mang gave the highest score of ten right away, and the audience erupted in applause.

The other two judges were planning to give nine points, but Gu Mang unexpectedly gave a ten, and they couldn't offer a worse score than Gu Mang. Because, if they give a lower score than Gu Mang, who has long been known for his strictness, doesn't that imply that they dropped the score on purpose?

As a result, the other two judges also gave ten points, and the audience applauded even more when they saw three tens. Their astonishment was understandable. However, those in the crowd who are unable to hear the details and skills sigh at Jing Yang's vocal prowess.

"Wow!" Even the host was taken aback. "There were three ten-pointers in the first round. This is the first time something like this has happened in our competition. This is also the three judges' approval of Chu Yang's strength. I'm sure the other contestants are feeling a lot of pressure right now. But you don't have to be worried since, until all of the contestants have completed singing, there will still be online voting. We still don't know who will finish top in the first round. OK! Now, please welcome the final contestant, Ji Xiao!"

Ji Xiao's breathing grew more difficult as he saw Jing Yang had scored three ten points in the lounge. He picked songs that are not in his usual style. So, he knew in his heart that he wouldn't be able to match Jing Yang's high score.

However, the host's words gave him some comfort. If his online vote is higher than Jing Yang's, he might still surpass Jing Yang at the end of the first round.

Ji Xiao's tense palms were sweating, while Liu Hang had yet to recover on one side. Ji Xiao turned to face him, knowing that Liu Hang was probably watching Jing Yang and became stunned, but this is not the time to be angry; all he can do is hold his breath and push Liu Hang.
Liu Hang abruptly regained his composure. When he noticed the stage was empty, he remembered that Ji Xiao would take the stage next.

Ji Xiao was hugged, patted, and soothed by Liu Hang. "Don't be worried; you'll be able to perform normally and sing well."

"You...," Ji Xiao paused before asking what he wanted to ask. "Do you wish I could beat Chu Yang?"

Liu Hang paused for a moment before responding, "Of course, you only have two years, and your chances in the future are much lower than his, so I hope you can win this time."

Ji Xiao was pleased with the speed and content of his answers, and he felt more at ease. After taking a deep breath with a determination to sing well, he strode out of the lounge, ready to perform on stage.
