Enid Sinclair sat across from her girlfriend, Wednesday Addams, at their usual booth in the diner. The smell of frying bacon and coffee filled the air, but Enid couldn't even muster up an appetite. She knew what she had to do, and it was tearing her apart inside.

"Enid, what's going on?" Wednesday asked, her eyebrows furrowed with concern.

Enid took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "I need to talk to you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Wednesday's expression softened, and she reached across the table to take Enid's hand. "Okay," she said gently. "What is it?"

Enid looked down at their entwined fingers, tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. "I think we need to break up," she said, the words barely audible.

Wednesday's grip tightened, her eyes widening in shock. "What? Why?" she asked, her voice rising slightly.

Enid took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "I just don't think...I don't think we're right for each other," she said, her voice shaking. "I don't want to hurt you, Wednesday, but I can't keep pretending that everything is okay."

Wednesday's face crumpled, and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Please, Enid," she said, her voice hoarse with emotion. "Please don't do this. We can work it out, I know we can."

Enid shook her head, tears spilling down her own face now. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can't keep pretending that everything is okay. I need to be honest with myself, and with you. This...this isn't working."

Wednesday's grip on her hand loosened, and she pulled away, her eyes darkening with hurt and anger. "Fine," she spat, her voice thick with tears. "Fine, if that's what you want. But don't expect me to just sit here and take it. I loved you, Enid. I loved you more than anything."

Enid's heart felt like it was breaking into a million tiny pieces. She had never wanted to hurt Wednesday, but she couldn't keep living a lie. She had to be true to herself, even if it meant losing the person she loved more than anything in the world.

As they left the diner, Enid could feel Wednesday's eyes on her back, burning with hurt and anger. She knew that this was the end, that there was no going back. She had made her decision, and now she had to live with the consequences.

The next few weeks were a blur of tears and heartache. Enid tried to keep herself busy, throwing herself into her schoolwork and her job at the record store. But everywhere she went, she was haunted by the memory of Wednesday. She missed her touch, her smile, the way she always knew exactly what to say to make her feel better.

But even as the pain of the breakup started to fade, Enid knew that she had made the right decision. She couldn't keep pretending that everything was okay, couldn't keep denying the truth of who she was. She had to be honest with herself, even if it meant losing the person she loved most in the world.

As the weeks turned into months, Enid started to rebuild her life. She made new friends, started dating again, and even landed a dream internship at a music magazine. But no matter how much she tried to move on, there was always a part of her that longed for Wednesday.

And then, one day, she saw her. Wednesday was walking down the street, her heart skipped a beat so she tried avoiding Wednesday, she tried, but Wednesday saw Enid and started walking to her. "Ma'am, are you okay?" Wednesday stuck out a hand to her. "Y-yes." Enid said, barely keeping her voice still. "You look sick, are you alright? Do you need some medicine?"  Wednesday asked in concern. "You..You don't remember...me?" Enid slowly stood up. "No? Do you?" Wednesday asked in confusion. "Yes. very much." Enid smiled as her eyes swelled up with tears. Then it suddenly hit Wednesday, it was her ex, Enid. "E-enid?" Wednesday slowly took a step back. Enid looked up, "So you do remember me."
"Yes, why would i just forget you?" Wednesday asked. "Because, of uh what happened between us, before." Enid said, fidgeting with her fingers. Wednesday nodded, not saying a word. She's just looking at Enid. "Okay." Wednesday muttered. "Can we, be friends?" Enid asked. "We already are. Though, are we not?" Wednesday replied, "How about we get some coffee, I know a great place."
Enid looked up in joy. "Yeah of course." As she walked with Wednesday, but still missing her from the past.
