When Louis gets home he tells Noah and Jake about his meeting with Harry and Scott.
"This is crazy, but awesome" Noah says smiling
"We're really happy for you Lou" Jake smiles
"Thanks, I mean if it works out, I'm still not convinced they aren't walking red flags" Louis chuckles in jest.
Noah and Jake laugh
"Pity, because they are super hot" Jake says
Louis chuckles but agrees
"We're glad this is happening for you Lou" Noah says sincerely
Louis then realises Noah and Jake are acting a little weird.
"What's going on" Louis then asks looking between the two
They both sigh.
"Please don't hate us but...." Jake says
"But what?" Louis asks warily
"We both have to move out earlier than expected, like starting now" Noah says
"Oh?" Louis asks
"I have to be in before the end of semester now and Jake has been offered a flat that he has to take now before it goes" Noah says
"Oh of course, why would I be mad at you both for that?" Louis asks curiously
"Just, with everything you're going through and that's happened, we don't want you to think we're abandoning you" Jake says.
Louis smiles warmly
"I don't at all, honestly it's fine, it's just a few weeks early" Louis says
Noah and Jake smile and hug Louis close
"I will miss you both though" Louis says
"We will miss you too Lou, so much" Noah says
Louis agrees to help them both pack and so they get started. Louis wonders what he's going to do with all the space now.
...
Back at the station Harry and Scott, although are completely stoked Louis has agreed to go out with them, are starting to get concerned about this case. They are going through a few things when a call comes in.
"Styles?" Harry answers "Okay, yeah we're on our way" he says and he hangs up.
"Body?" Scott asks already grabbing his jacket
"In the park" Harry tells him
"Let's go" Scott says and they make their way to scene.
When they pull up at the park, the scene is taped off, Harry and Scott are met with the coroner and forensics
"What have we got" Scott asks
"Male early 20's, cause of death unknown, but I'd say with the lack of blood he wasn't killed here just dumped here after" They are told
"Any ID?" Harry asks
"Cody Shaw, 22, Lived just on the outskirts of town"
Scott and Harry nod. They examine the body and notice the exact similarities to the other victims. They finish up on scene and ask for a report to be sent to them asap.
When they get back into the car they look at each other and sigh.
"Well, it seems our serial killer has made his way to Windsor Peaks" Harry states
"Let's get back and look into whether there's a link to the orphanage or Louis" Scott says
An uneasiness settles over the car and they drive in silence the rest of the way to the station.
.....
"So there's no link to Cody and the orphanage nor a direct one to Louis" Harry says after about an hour and a half of digging. His eyes hurt from looking at the computer screen and he wants this unsettled feeling to go away. Something is not right.
"Forensics is back, they've concluded it's the same cause of death. The femoral artery" Scott says
"So it's the same guy, but he's got a different motive now?" Harry asks frustrated
"Maybe not, maybe we're just missing the link" Scott says.
"It's right under our noses I know it" Harry says frustrated as he runs his hands over his face.
"Well let's keep digging, there has to be something" Scott says
There is then a knock at the door and Dan enters.
"Afternoon" he greets solemnly
"Afternoon" Harry and Scott reply
"So I take it there's a killer on the loose in Windsor Peaks?" Dan says as he comes to stand in front of the white board, looking at the victims and the leads.
"He's the same serial killer we've been tracking, no doubt about it. He was framing Stanley Green and we think he killed him, but we don't know why, or why Louis is involved, but he is in some way" Harry says
"We've found a neighbouring house had a camera, it captured the sound of Louis car being hit and you can see it being propelled into the intersection. The back of the third car is seen but there's no way to make out the number plate" Dan says
"Well at least we know for certain now, but why did they kill Stanley and why this way. Why involve Louis" Harry asks
It's silent for a few minutes, everyone just thinking, before Scott is talking.
"Maybe......maybe the killer has some fond liking toward Louis......Think about it.....maybe, maybe he wanted Louis to get justice without having to be at fault completely?" Scott says in realisation.
Harry and Dan look to each other and then to Scott
"That makes a lot of sense" Harry says
"So the killer is besotted with Louis, so much so he's killed for him?" Dan asks
"Yeah, maybe" Harry says
"So they won't hurt Louis?" Dan asks hopeful
Scott and Harry look to Dan sympathetically
"That's not really how his psychosis works. If he is infatuated with Louis, he will eventually expect something in return and if or when he doesn't get it....he's not going to take it very well" Scott says
"So Louis already knows this person?" Dan asks
"He could yes, or maybe they are just admiring from afar. The reason they are killing these boys isn't clear yet either, although this theory is the one that's made the most sense. We just need the why" Harry says thinking.
"I think it's time we maybe bring Louis in, see what the relationship is between these victims. The killer may have been besotted with them all and it got to the point where they rejected him and he killed them" Scott says
"Will you have to disclose this to Louis?" Dan asks
"We don't want to scare him, we don't really want to involve him if we don't have to. His safety might be at risk though and we need to make sure he's protected" Harry says
Dan agrees and the boys finish up for the day. They will bring Louis in to chat to them tomorrow.
