I waved my hand infront of her face, but she didn't seem to be phased by that at all. I tried pointing a finger infront of her and asked her to follow it, but it was still the same null stare. I gave up and just leaned back on the chair. She moved her head to stare at the window again, while I was almost having a breakdown.
It didn't take long before a doctor visited Yoohyeon and noticed how burdened I seemed. He sat on the couch and looked through Yoohyeon's documents and scratched his head.
"I know it must be hard for you to see her like this, but I promise we'll try our best to bring the old Ms. Kim Yoohyeon to you."
"Thank you doctor. By any chance, is there anything that I could do to help her better faster? How long will it take for her to get her awareness back?"
"I'm not very certain, but it could take at least three weeks. Since there were no signs of head injuries, it's very possible that it won't take longer than that."
"Finally some good news.. Thank you very much, I'll excuse myself so you can do your job."
I left Yoohyeon's room and placed my hands on my waist. I aimlessly stared at the wall infront of me and sighed. I don't know what to do.. I just walked to the cafeteria and bought one of their puddings. Damn they really are tasty. I sat on a free table and looked around to examine every person in here.
There was a young lady feeding food to an elderly woman in a wheelchair, probably her mother. Two young boys, maybe elementary school kids, drawing on a sketch book and playing around with their toy cars. There were also a lot of patients enjoying the hospital food. Everyone was here for a reason.
I was eating my pudding in peace until I noticed a girl my age staring at me. The moment I turned to look back at her, she turned her head the other way. I didn't pay attention to it because people always stared at me as if I was some evil celebrity. It was possible she was the sister of some of the kids I beat up a long time ago and that she had a grudge on me or one of the girls that want me to go on a blind date with their brothers or even them themselves.
But she especially didn't take her attention off of me which really burdened me. I was feeling nervous, so I thought about pretending to call someone so I didn't feel that awkward being alone. Where's Bora when you need her the most..
I faked talking to someone for about 5 minutes and she was still there, staring at me. I was so close to losing it and asking her what she wanted, but I got saved last second when the grandpa that gave me a muffin once entered the cafeteria. He saw me waving at him and he slowly made his way to me.
"Greetings Minji, good to see you're still here."
"Hey gramps! You have no idea, but you just saved my life."
"How come?"
"You see that girl over there? She has been staring at me for the past 10 minutes and I was close to losing my mind."
"Her? Ah, is she one of your exes that you're trying to avoid?"
"Oh, goodness no! It's my first time seeing her and she didn't really leave a good first impression on me."
"I'm just kidding with you, she's one of the new patients. If I'm correct, she's not from here and isn't fluent in Korean. You're one of the few people around her age that she's seen in some time, so that's probably why she's looking at you like that. Don't mind her."
I looked at the girl again and we made eye contact for a moment before she immediately looked the other way and scratched the back of her head.
"She looks okay though? What happened to her?"
