The two-in-one body's longing for breath and ability to escape their demise came true when a rake obstructed the scythe from piercing their body. It  converted into a fire lance that pierced Vanish Reaper's head as the body responsible bashed the specter away.

Their savior landed on the morass, catching them in their arms. A familiar curly haired woman wearing black and blue padded armor across the wrists, shines, a golden-blue helmet and roaring aura that further pushed the Shinigami back.

"Zira?"

The person whose body he was steering pulled Sol away from being crushed under Harlen's claw. Though her hand shook, the werewolf's howl echoed through the rushing raindrops and blew back the blazing hound.

They saw her face, mesmerized as she pulled him up. "You know who I am? Who are you and where's my friend?"

"Long story, and both of you?"

"Both?" What do you," slumping, rising again. "She insisted," said Vulcan, whose voice started to blend with her. "Quick recap."

----

Minutes ago, Zira fumbled back into the room and asked the girls at the school what she'd want them to do if she could renovate their home. Asking Aurora to draw what she was saying, she promised to come back and make those a reality: if they behaved of course, winking.

The girls huddled around her as she listed off the ideas her and Syntel built. Crystal smiled, stopping another kid from climbing up to mess with her friend's hair. Eventually, the building shook. The roaring thunder led some of the kids panicking. One lashed onto Zira.

"Are we gonna die?"

Zira brushed her cheeks. "It's just a storm. We'll be okay."

Shen let them know the bus driver told him he was called to pick them up and those on the bus told them otherwise but wondered where Syntel was. Concerned, she asked the others to focus on keeping everyone else safe.

Zira checked the bathrooms, but from the noise outside, horror grew from the sight of a familiar specter and the shadow of a giant quadrupedal beast carrying someone in their mouths. She gulped, but headed forward, knowing the ghost freak from before had ties to the answers she sought.

"Zira, they're too dangerous!"

"And I'm supposed to sit back and wait? Syntel and Harlen are still out there."

"There's a difference between headstrong and foolhardiness. Don't throw your life away again!"

"How can I choose if I don't even know what I'm throwing my life against?!"

Vulcan raised a hand, but was too flabbergasted to find a counter argument.

"You humans are somehow complicated and correct at the same time. Grab the rake," attaching the Soul Brace on her body. "Maybe the person being eaten alive is your ally."

----

Sol raised a finger. "What's with the switch," one side asked. "Maybe it's a glitch within the Soul Brace?"

"Potentially," Vulcan responded. "I possessed the weapon and the Brace itself as a conduit to stabilize the synchronization." A screen opened up, showing Zira's brace at twenty percent.

"It's allowing me to channel my body as armor, but as the bar drops, I'll have to try the traditional possession. This side effect protects her for now."

Harlen summoned the fire blade into his new mouth, forcing the two to swing back, sliding away from the body he was possessing.

"Haesetus? Is that-no, they used Soul Reserval to switch him and the human?"
